Let him win a division title first. One. I know the bar is low, but.... Hard to declare trade "winners" until we have hindsight, down the road. I LOVE the Clevinger deal for SDP tho, I really do. Wow. They don't care about divisiom titles. Tbis is a World Series move. Amd they have 2 roster spots still to fill. Well, maybe they should be focused on a winning season for the first time since ___. You're a good guy, but that is a bit laughable. "This is a World Series move"...LMAO. I love his enthusiasm. "Build a statue" as if he has accomplished anything significant yet. I guess it was a TIC statement, but you have no way of knowing how this will go yet. I guess your memory is a bit hazy -- it's one thing to pull off a "flurry" of deals.....remember the off season of Kimbrel, Kemp, Upton, I can go on.......hmmm?? Whats that? Still a very questionable bullpen, and one that just lost Quantrill - by the way.

Second highest World Series odds and perhaps the deepest lineup in baseball.

Preller going nuts!!! Love it!!! Great moves!!! Going for it this season. I got my Slam Diego t-shirt and now, hopefully, I can add a World Series Champions t-shirt to the arsenal as well!!! They have a legitimate chance now.

Only Justin Verlander has a lower ERA than Clevinger since 2017. Wow!!!

Yeah, a reliever with a career 3.790 ERA and 1.400 (whip) who has yet to be cleared from an ACL injury. Dan Altavilla is a dime a dozen stiff, with one good season in the last four who has been AWFUL this season and last. Not to worry, surely his spin rate and release point are trending in the right direction.
I look at facts and production, not just volume of warm bodies.
I actually think Austin Adams COULD help, but he is a major wild card as of this post.

Only Justin Verlander has a lower ERA than Clevinger since 2017. Wow!!! Clevinger is a legit badass, John. You're going to love him. I hated to see him go. Would have loved to see SD add one "lights out" reliever, but I like what Preller did overall. I still wonder if they will consider promoting Gore as a two inning relief assassin. We have seen so many SUCCESSFUL teams do that in September/Oct over the years.

So instead of pushing for Grisham or Cron and a top arm it became a much bigger deal.
Greg Allen is an athletic outfielder with solid D who cannot hit, and SD got to unload Hedges LOL. Finally!!
Indians getting Cantillo in there was big for them.
Interesting that SD and CLE are such frequent trade partners. For decades, going back to Joe Carter and Sandy Alomar deals....hahahah

I agree with you, let's worry about getting to the playoffs first, then the World Series. Loving the optimism though.

Speaking of Strahm, I'm glad he wasn't included in any deals, so far at least.

Guess we’ll find out how now valuable Hedges was to the team with handling the pitchers.

After reading a little on Clevinger, apparently his teammates weren't too enamored with him after not practicing social distancing and him getting demoted to the minors for a bit because of it. Do you know any more about this?

Padre bullpen since August 17th : 59 innings, 3.36 ERA/3.13 FIP. 1.1 WAR.
Third best in baseball over that span.

Nola is a HUGE upgrade offensively and can play six positions on top of it.

Do you know any more about this? COVID Clev and Pandemic Plesac went out for a friend’s bday during a road trip to Chicago. Plesac was caught night of, explained in an IG post that they went to dinner with a group, then went back to a buddy’s place to hang out for a bit. Group was never more than 8 people. Plesac was caught night of, Clev didn’t admit he was with him until it came out after he flew with the team the next day. Pretty scummy, IMO, but these guys shouldn’t be anybody’s role model. Clevinger is a good pitcher; hopefully he doesn’t bring any veteran presents to the clubhouse.

Do you know any more about this? Yeah, it was pretty well reported on. I understand the teammates anger, but I think they got a little too hot. Him and another SP (Plesac) went to dinner and drinks with some of Plesac's buddies when they were in Chicago playing the Sox. Plesac was immediately caught and sent home in a car service to Cleveland, and Clevinger rode back on the plane after being out on the town unknowingly. Then it was later found out he was involved. I guess the team meeting got pretty nasty, as Lindor is almost assuredly a goner in the offseason to a trade, and the team is all in (first in the AL Central) trying to win during their closing contention window. Clevinger is gone, Brad Hands option wont be picked up, Carlos Santanas likely wont be either. So, they did F up but hey....they are 20-somethings and Plesac insists it was just dinner with some friends. I dunno.
