Damn good coach has been for decades, well respected by people in the industry, great DC at OSU and UCLA. Did a miraculous job at New Mexico. Is doing a fine job recruiting. Those of you like Monty are ranting loons. If before the game someone said we lose by nine and hold Washington to 347 yards on offense ,would you have said horrible fire the coach. Hell no. First game we lose by nine to a team that is on the cusp of top twenty five at their home. Far from being the worst coaching job I have seen ,almost l all the games by Craft and Long and half by Tollner were worse. I have been around football for 55 years have a cousin that was a NFL coordinator, six high school coaches in family, personal close friends with four BCS coaches and my best friend is a FBS coach. Rocky is prepping for conference he is a working on things now. One damn game and hardly a blow out and some of you want to fire him. Who in their right mind would take this job a 600k that is worth a damn. When you fire a guy after an 8-5 season. The O line a work in progress the dline looked good. The back seven played half a game, freaked out I think by what I do not know.

I love his honesty. Too brutal for some but it's an old fashioned trait that people need these days.
In this confusing world, we can use a little old fashioned.

He's a DC and that's that. His post game pretty much states so, by having no comment at all on the offensive side of the ball and going into detail on any comment about the defense. It is what it is.. Do I hate him, no. Do I think he blows, no. But I do think we'd benefit by having him as strictly the DC and someone else as the HC.
If the players like playing for him then that's good enough for me..

The team played well, which is a testament to Rocky's coaching. Look at it like this:
Washington thought they'd push us around - wrong Washington thought they'd outrun us - wrong Washington thought they'd outscheme us - wrong Washington thought they'd intimidate us - wrong Washington thought we'd roll over - wrong Washington thought they were significantly better - wrong
In fact, remove the horrid first quarter and it's hard to say which was the better team. I'd actually lean towards us, but I'm biased. You win some, you lose some. It was a good effort and no reason to be ashamed.
However, I strongly disagree with not attempting short kicks! I was happy with the rest of the game; but, in my opinion, the first PAT and the non-FG attempt were poor coaching decisions.

Don't forget 7 of their points came when Lockett tried to stretch out for an extra yard and fumbled. That would have assured us going for that short field goal in the 4th quarter. Then we'd either be celebrating, or bitching about the "new Trakas/Perez".

If those 2 pt conversions work he's a genius. They didn't so all of a sudden hes the worst coach in the nation and on the hot seat. Remember in the SUPERBOWL when Bill freaking Belichick did something unconventional and it didn't work? Guess he should be fired too. This team will be just fine.

If the two teams exchanged quarterbacks----we'd won by two touchdowns!

The team has played hard in every game in the Rocky Long era and had the opportunity to win in 90% of them. The defense is one of the most entertaing I have ever seen. I love the job Rocky is doing. This team is very young. I see really good things in the future. With some consistent QB play they should win a lot of games of the next 2-4 years.
It's very difficult to buck the establishment. Going for it on all these 4th downs is definitely a strategy that is against the grain. When it doesn't work the critics have something very easy to gripe about, but then again at one time you were considered crazy if you insuniated that the earth was anything other than flat...and all those ship wrecks proved it was true.

The one thing that is tough to handle is we have been playing for the future for 25 years. At some point the future has to become now! I love the defense, we just need to win a statement game. Looking at the schedule, I see Boise as the lone statement game left. I wouldn't be surprised if this was our only loss of the season.

This Aztec Football team will be fine, in a few weeks we will be rolling into Fresno 3-1 and looking to defend that oil can thingy.
The QB situation will get better, the O-Line will continue to open holes and look for the defense to force some turnovers.
Haters, go root for another team, I like the tough aggressive style of SDSU.

The five "sure points" we didn't go for still wouldn't have won the game.

I'd like to see more onsides kicks. Almost every kick is returned to at least the 30 if not the 35. So you're giving up maybe 20-30 yards for a chance at possession of the football. So the question becomes, what are the odds you recover an onsides kick? If they are 50% or greater I think you kick the onsides kick.
