I don't think anyone in the new PAC wants Nevada. If that's the price to get UNLV it isn't worth it. Agree. No Nevada. Novada

I was listening to The Monty Show and he said his sources told him that the PAC2 approached UNLV first but they asked for more time and more information so they moved on to Colorado State. Take it for what it's worth. Don’t trust anything that guy says.

I think UNLV gets in once they sort out the politics of separating from Reno.
The next adds could be UNLV,UTSA,Memphis and Tulane. I think we go to 10 and pause.

Don’t trust anything that guy says. I can believe it. CSU is still a curious choice over UNLV. What other explanation could there be? Ross Dellenger the guy that actually broke the story. Said this “Many around college athletics expressed surprise that UNLV was not included in the Pac-12’s initial phase of expansion. Located in a major city and with a football program on the way up, the potential is there.” However, politics are at play. According to those with knowledge of the discussions, separating the two — the University of Nevada and UNLV — is a hurdle. It doesn’t mean it cannot be done. And, perhaps at a later date, they could eventually move together to the Pac-12. Or the hurdle is crossed and UNLV moves alone? sports.yahoo.com/after-latest-realignment-moves-which-other-schools-will-the-pac-12-try-to-scoop-up-182233033.html

Adding UNLV would be a positive but if we need to add Nevada to get UNLV I don't know if it is worth it.

Do they have to go through some approval process with the state? Its Vegas, baby. Whatever happens there, stays there. I can't see an issue with UNLV leaving UNR behind. They did that when they left for the WAC in 1996. Well it is an issue. UNLV and UNR share the same school board.

You don’t leave Las Vegas market out of it. Especially trying to get a good TV deal. Now, it might take time to get just them and them alone.

Vegas has more of it and even the common "school board" will understand that punishing UNLV by forcing them to stay behind guarantees the alienation of the fans of the school with the most fans, and come to a deal. If not, I'm sure Vegas has other ways to "make them a deal they can't refuse."

Fresno owns the Central Valley to include the Sacramento DMA… they have a way bigger market than UNLV, which is why ESPN asked the P10 to add them with State over a year ago… P10 said no… UNLV isn’t even the strongest brand in their win market, massive amount of transplants… WSU is clearly second to UW, but they have a strong presence in Seattle… OSU is also a clear second to Oregon, but they have a significant presence in Portland… CSU is a clear second to Colorado, but also have a decent presence in Denver… FSU owns Sacramento and the valley… State has San Diego… leaving BSU who still has some National cache and pretty much owns all of Idaho… it isn’t as bad as you would have us believe… lol. Fresno has as much “owning” of Sacramento as SDSU has of LA which is none. Read the Sacramento newspaper and watch this local Sacramento tv channels. There is zero reporting on Fresno, none. Fresno is 150 miles away. Which is farther than SD to LA. Fresno is almost equidistant from Sacramento as it is LA ffs. The Sacramento media reports on Cal and Stanford most often or USC and UCLA, UCD and Sac State, but never Fresno. South of Modesto yeah, Fresno owns Manteca, Bakersfield, Turlock, Buttonwillow, Chowchila, Mendota, et al. Good for them. It’s a land of sparse population and largely an agricultural and migrant worker environment. But it’s not the Sacramento MSA at all which is where the population is. IMO Fresno was a poor add. Only thing they bring is a half decent football program no better than most G5 programs,a bunch of thug fans, a terrible location, and nothing else. Terrible academics, terrible basketball, terrible monetary support from fans, terrible stadium that they’ve tried to fundraise to renovate/replace for several years and gotten no where and raised no money. They couldn’t get a measure passed two years ago to help pay for stadium renovations. They get football attendance because they have cheap tickets and TINA (there is no alternative to watch football). Grew up in Elk Grove (Sacramento) and am 💯 that FSU owns that market… the Bee doesn’t really cover college sports… Giants, Niners and Kings… but there are a lot of eyeballs from Stockton to Scramento that have rooted for FSU since Jim Sweeney… ESPN had a reason…

Byron Brooks, who serves on the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents, said he is eager to follow the “ongoing development” after Thursday’s bombshell.
Brooks said he had conversations about last-minute meetings on the UNLV and UNR campuses to determine next steps.
“It would be very difficult for UNLV to make a move into another conference without UNR because that should be a package deal,” he said. “And then the financial obligations that these campuses have in moving from one conference to another … I’m not sure that UNLV and UNR are in a place to spend that kind of money to move into another conference.”
While Brooks acknowledged that there is a separation of sports success between UNLV and UNR, he said it wouldn’t be practical for the state’s “largest institutions” to play in separate conferences."
