Can someone please explain how the Rebels football program is a cut above SDSU? Unreal Because they are in year 5 of the rebuilding process. They also stopped hiring HS coaches. Marcus Arroyo took all the losses for the current coach. He came in during Covid year and began developing QBs. Us on the other hand kept Rocky too long but liked him because he was a straight shooter and had a defense. Never was able to develop a QB or Wr during his time at SDSU. Rocky would steal the best athletes from the offensive side and place them on defense. By the Rocky decided to quit the program was already tanking.

I love the recency bias of UNLV football. They have sucked forever but had a decent season last year and are 3-0 beating Big 12 bottom dwellers and everyone thinks theyāre a juggernaut. Letās see where they are at the end of the season.
That being said, I do hope they end up in the PAC 12.

People on Aztecmesa seem to be bigger fans of UNLV than of the Aztecs. I don't get this Los Vegas love at all. And it seems like those running the PAC at present don't get it either.

Isn't this another bad look for the PAC2? They couldn't even land the 3rd most obvious addition, and have to settle for CSU and Fresno as backups? In the new college landscape, nothing comes close to UNLV. Boise is only obvious for football and tbf recent bball success. But aren't major cities needed? Being generous and counting Fresno as a major city, there's only 2 out of the 6....? Fresno owns the Central Valley to include the Sacramento DMAā¦ they have a way bigger market than UNLV, which is why ESPN asked the P10 to add them with State over a year agoā¦ P10 said noā¦ UNLV isnāt even the strongest brand in their win market, massive amount of transplantsā¦ WSU is clearly second to UW, but they have a strong presence in Seattleā¦ OSU is also a clear second to Oregon, but they have a significant presence in Portlandā¦ CSU is a clear second to Colorado, but also have a decent presence in Denverā¦ FSU owns Sacramento and the valleyā¦ State has San Diegoā¦ leaving BSU who still has some National cache and pretty much owns all of Idahoā¦ it isnāt as bad as you would have us believeā¦ lol. Fresno has as much āowningā of Sacramento as SDSU has of LA which is none. Read the Sacramento newspaper and watch this local Sacramento tv channels. There is zero reporting on Fresno, none. Fresno is 150 miles away. Which is farther than SD to LA. Fresno is almost equidistant from Sacramento as it is LA ffs. The Sacramento media reports on Cal and Stanford most often or USC and UCLA, UCD and Sac State, but never Fresno. South of Modesto yeah, Fresno owns Manteca, Bakersfield, Turlock, Buttonwillow, Chowchila, Mendota, et al. Good for them. Itās a land of sparse population and largely an agricultural and migrant worker environment. But itās not the Sacramento MSA at all which is where the population is. IMO Fresno was a poor add. Only thing they bring is a half decent football program no better than most G5 programs,a bunch of thug fans, a terrible location, and nothing else. Terrible academics, terrible basketball, terrible monetary support from fans, terrible stadium that theyāve tried to fundraise to renovate/replace for several years and gotten no where and raised no money. They couldnāt get a measure passed two years ago to help pay for stadium renovations. They get football attendance because they have cheap tickets and TINA (there is no alternative to watch football).

Do they have to go through some approval process with the state? Its Vegas, baby. Whatever happens there, stays there. I can't see an issue with UNLV leaving UNR behind. They did that when they left for the WAC in 1996. I read today that it does have something at the state level politics of UNLV and Nevada being tethered together and the PAC-2 deciding not to invite in that current setup not wanting Nevada.
