They will probably ship their asses to Detroit. It would seem Spokane or Salt Lake City is not likely now, maybe we get some respect off the Final Four run last year but probably not.

continuing the post game blues-----ledee was the only aztec in double figures. yesterday it was 5. we'll hear this for awhile; recruiting has to start looking for players that can make shots from outside (and after today inside too)... team cannot put all its eggs into the defensive basket. when 2 players on the opponents score 49 of the team's 68 points you got a problem. if your high rated d slips and then you go 6 minutes at the end of a close game without scoring you got a problem. time to start saying, "next year".

What a letdown. The inability to score killed them all year and it just killed them again. The brain dead, low BBIQ is the most frustrating part on O. You’re going to go on droughts. Our experienced guards go hero ball on multiple consecutive possessions when we were up 4 … without even looking at Ledee when he was unstoppable at that point. Lamont, DT & Reese all made horrible decisions on O in that stretch. What is heartbreaking is these guys are all very experienced, guys that are supposed to make smart, good plays in crunch time. Then the very weak effort and fundamentals on the boards. I will credit NM, they wanted it more down the stretch in crunch time. We remain out own worst enemy.

So what happened to NM running out of gas? That was always overrated, playing 3 in 3 or 4 in 4...it doesn't matter, these guys are young and play every day anyway. Not that big of a difference and we actually got lucky that Dent was sick and not himself at all as he is one of their best players. Bottom line is the slow start, crappy officiating and some scrappy play by a hungry New Mexico team did us in. I was concerned coming in after watching New Mexico play during the tournament.

So what happened to NM running out of gas? Media hype, ive never seen the statistics or facts to back up "teams are soooo tired after 4 games", but it gets people to believe BS. Its all they can do to drum up "interest" and more clicks Well we had a bunch of fans here saying it's gonna be hard for NM with playing 4 games in 4 days. I think they outplayed and outhustled us for the most part despite playing 4 games in a row. Whatever the case, we need to do better next week.

Does it even matter if they can't make a shot? They can't shoot bro. 1 FG over the last 6 minutes. NM could have won this game by just making FTs. I'm glad I didn't watch this game. Now I can delete the recording. It's not a poor game to watch..... Outstanding athletes giving it their all.... We didn't lay an egg....we wore down and became stagnant on O the final 8 minutes.....we still played hard, but who in their right mind ever thought we were perfect..... Last night was perfect....Hard to duplicate that effort! Gotta rest up and get ready to play the real tournament! I wouldn't be suprised if NM losses right away after blowing their load in this tourny!

NM starting guards shot 12 FT'S, SDSU only 2. They take it to the hole and get the fouls.

I know I got called out hard for daring to suggest that it might be better for Lamont to try somewhere else next year but even though I love him as a person and love his defense, I think what makes me so crazy is how inconsistent he is for someone who's played 127 games over 4 years.
Look at House, Mashburn, Dent, Rice, Blackshear, Lucas, Stevens, Thomas etc. It shouldn't be that difficult to get a guard that can take over a game now and then.

So what happened to NM running out of gas? They probably ate a ton of beans for lunch and didn't have to worry about lacking for gas! Ha!!!

Not sure how anyone could be surprised by ending? One team wanted it, one team executed and one coach out coached the other. Until we start recruiting ballers, not just long lean athletes, we are gonna be who we are.

Yea Mashburn played above his level today but Dent really didn't even play either so there's that.

Will the committee f-ck us? If we make it, I feel a 9 seed coming on with a rematch against UConn in the second round. I think we are a low seed team at best. We really struggled down the stretch and except for yesterday, we are poor rebounding, poor shooting team Leading rebounder today? Trammell 7.

As much as I hate to admit it - New Mexico was the better team today.... Neither Trammell nor Butler played well offensively in the 2nd half....MIA! Both teams gutted it out in what's usually a super sloppy game.(MWC championship 3 games in 3 nights) Simply put, their guards played better than our guards - plus wave after wave of big men thrown at Ledee... New Mexico 4 wins in 4 nights is impressive Silver lining to all of this....hopefully the loss puts a chip on our shoulder and we appear healthy.... Go Aztecs! The chip on shoulder will only add to the anchor around our neck.

Too many questionable or non-calls today. This was the first tournament since 2002 except 2021 when no one could attend that I did not attend in person. I have detested Verne Harris since the 2009 tournament loss to Utah. Mountain worst refs YOU SUCK. With better officiating, new mexico is one and done in the NCAA tournament.

I'm not interested in getting into the whole Lamont debate in this thread, however, something became painfully obvious to me a couple games ago...... Lamont has tiny hands for his size..... ......He loses control of the basketball on almost every CONTESTED drive to the basket. This is obvious over 4 years of witnessing him continually losing control of the ball around the basket......It's not a criticism - it's just a fact...... It's hard to take advantage of his quickness, girth and leaping ability when he doesn't control the ball well....
