Not sure we have a realistic chance at a #4 seed even if/when we win today. I know we were 2nd on the #4 seed line when the Selection Committee put out their initial seedings but we lost too many games since to hold on to that. We might have a shot with some upsets today though. If Auburn or Illinois lose, or if Wisconsin or Marquette get blown out today, we might sneak into a #4 seed if we win and especially if we win convincingly.

Impressive streak of making it to the MW Championship game. Now let’s win back to back for the first time since Kawhi.
If Parrish and Waters have found their shot, Trammell can stay hot, LeDee stays out of foul trouble and either Saunders, Byrd or Butler can step up then we have a great shot. Would love to see Butler be aggressive going to the rim and getting House in foul trouble.

I think our resume is better than Auburn and Alabama if we win and Auburn loses. But I also think the committee will give them the edge because of their high analytics rankings. Auburn is 1-7 in Q1 games, but #4 in KenPom. Hard to predict where they'll be seeded.

Will be interesting to see:
1. The effect of four games in four days on House and the rest of the Lobos, compared to our three games in three days
2. If Parrish and Waters can continue to keep up their good shooting
3. If the offensive surge can spread to Saunders and Byrd, who haven't contributed much in the tournament.

I watched New Mexico's last two games, they are playing very well right now.
House runs his mouth a lot, but his energy level has been unreal the last couple of games, he is playing at 100 miles an hour and has been a force.
It will take a great game from the Aztecs to win even with New Mexico playing their 4th game in 4 days.

It won’t take a great game from the Aztecs to win. It will take a great game from the running-on-fumes Lobos for them to win.
MWC finals are usually rock fights; this is in the Aztecs’ wheelhouse, not the Lobos.

MWC finals are usually rock fights; this is in the Aztecs’ wheelhouse, not the Lobos. Hope the MWCT Championship rock fight history continues. But I think House is one of a kind in that I bet he still rushes up and down the court all game. I think I heard them say that New Mexico has the 5th fastest pace in the country. They get a lot of transition baskets with Dent, House and Toppin. We gotta slow their roll. If it's reffed fairly, LeDee should be able to eat up their bigs. Azmil came up big against us the last two times we played them. Can't let Baker get hot from 3 either.

MWC finals are usually rock fights; this is in the Aztecs’ wheelhouse, not the Lobos. Against our smothering defense and the minutes the Lobos had to play, exhaustion has to set in for them at some point. I'm also glad we played the earlier game as well.

Here they go again about previous TV games running into the Aztecs game. Wisconsin just forced OT against Purdue and Nebraska-Illinois still to tip off. All on CBS. CBS should show the flames behind the basket as part of the pre-game.

TV broadcast could possibly be joining the Mountain West Championship at halftime. Nebraska vs Illinois got pushed from 12:30PM to 1PM. CBS is the worst.

Wouldn’t be surprised if lobos come out swinging and try to drag us into their style of game (with House being extra annoying of course).
If Aztecs can stay solid and keep their cool they can wear down the Lobos over the length of the game.
Both teams are tired, comes down to who can execute and get some help from their bench… I like our depth better.

Gotta slow down the pace and not let them dictate the tempo of the game.

The conspiracy theorist in me is concerned that the powers that be at the MW are in the refs ears anyway they can, as a UNM win gets another team in the dance & benefits the conference as a whole. I know the refs are a neutral organization (not affiliated with the conf.) but it seems with the style of play, as you mentioned, it fits into a convenient theory.

I think NM has already punched their ticket, win or lose.
