The owner of the company I retired from used to take me to the Seahawks games up here. Club seats, free flowing insults as the game/booze went on, loved it. Chargers (I grew up in El Cajon before joining the Army and moving on, so SD teams in my heart). Chargers come up here on a cold and rainy day. Close game but I'm getting killed from all those around me as I'm wearing my Merriman jersey. In the rain, freezing, Rivers hits Vincent Jackson for a TD with little to no time left in the game. Stadium goes quiet, we're in club seats and I stand up and say "what about now?" What the f x x x do you say now?" as loud and as long as I could. I turned around in a 360 showing off my jersey looking at everyone, I mean they were killing me all game long. Nothing but crickets from them. One of the best in person sporting moments I've ever had. Oh man, absolutely love it. I remember when we played, I think it was Miami, and we won. I was at a sports bar with a buddy and we were surrounded by Dolphin fans. After we won, he jumped up on my back and carried him around the Sports Bar and screaming at the Dolphin fans saying, "Who's your daddy!!!" "The Chargers, that's who!!!" "Why are you so quiet now?!!!" They asked for it, though. Lol

Loved the personality & humor of Miles and the friendly dig by Pitino. And the personal touch of Hutson [br There are some damn good coaches in the Mtn. West. Criminally underrated programs and conference.

I'm so grateful for this experience to watch the Aztecs play for a national title
They got to the peak of the sport! They just couldn't climb it. That's okay. What a wild ride this run has been.
I know older heads share the same experiences of sitting thru losing seasons. When I was a student Trenkle won 4 games which got him fired and in came Fisher who won just 5 with 0 MWC wins. I remember having to beg friends to come with me to a game and having to bribe them by providing weed & beers because nobody wanted to watch the Aztecs get their heads beat in again and I'm not the best looking dude who could score a date that easily 😂
Through these eyes, I experienced this magical run. I got to see the entire county become SDSU fans. These eyes got to witness national media talk about SDSU for well over a week. Now, they're reading Way Too Early preseason polls with the Aztecs ranked despite all the losses. Holy f'n $h1t. They did it. They finally put some respect on the SDSU brand from a national POV.

Great run by the Aztecs--a season to remember. As for UConn's tourney performance, hard to believe this team lost 6 out of 8 games from late December to late January, including by 11 to a mediocre St. John's at home. Creighton beat them & show's how tough the Big East is.

This team smashed through the S16 wall and then some. What a great run. Thanks for the memories boys!

This team smashed through the S16 wall and then some. What a great run. Thanks for the memories boys! Our new bar is S16 every season. Sure we will lose earlier in the NCAAT sometimes … everybody does. Let’s start making more noise every March and we deserve to be considered in the discussion with Gonzaga, UCLA and UofA. We belong in the conversation with those 3. Plus we outperformed them all this March… and April 😝

I'm still in disbelief that we made it to the Championship Game!
I'm always going to see this as a dream season.
This is so cool!

Oddly, statistically speaking, teams that are better earlier in the season tend to do better in March than those who are playing really well late (February). In other words, teams which were among the best teams in the country in November & December did better in March than teams that were among the best teams in February. This is based on 14 years of data and hundreds of data points. I think UConn fits the bill. Absolute monster in Nov/Dec, faded in January/February, & took the title in March. Or put another way, obviously you want to be playing your best in March, but you don't have to be getting better in January/February. You can be really good early & revert to that level of play in March. Very counterintuitive.

Yeah, I think if you've proven, at some point during the year, that you have what it takes, that's all that matters. When that team needs to hyper focus, they can get back to that elite level that they displayed earlier in the season.
