They opened as a 6 point underdog and it got bet up to 8 1.5. Few are giving us a shot.

I don’t post often but I’m confident. I flew back to San Diego this morning and watched both games again.
FAU had quick guards and shot the 3 well. Our defense was shoddy at times, had some dumb turnovers, missed easy layups, a technical foul, and missed of course free throws. And we WON.
Miami did not play well, maybe that’s because of UConn’s defense but they had some pretty poor turnovers and UConn had a lot of transition points. They haven’t seen our defense and with it being the last game, I’m confident we will put up a fight.

It seems to have touches of the USA Hockey team beating the Soviet Union for the gold in the 1980 Olympics. Except they didn't beat the Soviets for gold. The USA beat the Soviets to get INTO the gold medal game, where they beat Finland for the gold medal. Thanks aardvark, I LOVE being corrected. That way I know I've learned something. |

I took a screenshot from the broadcast right after the final buzzer when it showed the crowd in the stands. There is Coach Fisher, by himself, and none of the Aztec fans surrounding him thought to turn to congratulate this legendary man who helped make the moment possible. He stands alone and ignored! For shame.
I wish I could attach the photo but I can't figure out how.

The pundits were saying the same thing when we faced Alabama. "Oh, Alabama has too many weapons." "Alabama has a very good defense as well." We know how that turned out. You still have to play the game. Keep doubting. We love it!!!

Just wanted to send out props to George Zigginfuss, rest his soul. He, too, would have been so proud of this team, and for whatever small or large part he played in building the basketball program, not to mention all of the Olympic sports he loved to teach.

He, too, would have been so proud of this team, and for whatever small or large part he played in building the basketball program, not to mention all of the Olympic sports he loved to teach. Happy to add my props to him as well. He had some pretty good teams way back when. Getting the Aztecs into the the equivalent is the Elite 8 of D2 teams. |

We may be underdogs but it wouldn't surprise me.
Nobody thinks we are going to win which helps tremendously imo.

It was a round robin format were the team finishing with the most points won the gold. But the US did have to win the final game to win gold, however Finland had no chance at the gold by winning the match. |
