78-78.
The Padres have matched their low point of the season, achieved on 4/21, when they were 10-10.

Kind of hard to avoid a letdown at this point, given the expectations for 90-95 wins

Kind of hard to avoid a letdown at this point, given the expectations for 90-95 wins Feels like they've been on an extended letdown since mid-July … They could do some damage to the Dodgers's hopes if they can win some games this week. St. Louis is red hot right now. It'd be just desserts for LA to lose in a one-game playoff. Whether that's fair or not is someone else's problem…

St. Louis has a lesser chance to win one game against the Dodgers but a better chance to win the next Series against Giants.

I'd sure like to see the Padres beat up on Dodger pitching this week, but there's about the same chance of that happening as there is of the Padres playing in the World Series this season.

Actually, they have a chance on beating up Dodger pitching, as the only chance they have in going to the World Series is buying a ticket.

One is zero, the other is about as close to zero as it gets - but it is greater than zero - slightly. LOL

Tommy "Flim Flam" Pham watches strike three go right down the middle of the plate and past him with two outs and the tying run in scoring position.
And there goes .500 …

What was up with the dodgers taking Kelly out after his good 8th inning? Kelly should have started the 9th inning as he only threw the 8th inning and 10-15 pitches.

The second half has been a historic collapse, one of the worst in the past 20 years.
The rumors about trading Hosmer probably sowed seeds of discontent, the team wasn’t the same happy go lucky bunch after the trading deadline. That coupled with the mismanagement of the staff and bullpen led to this epic tank job.

That coupled with the mismanagement of the staff and bullpen led to this epic tank job. The collapse started a month before the trade deadline. From July 1st, the team has been circling the drain, but the complete collapse began in September. 29-46 since July 1st, with a September freefall of 6-17. So far.

78-80 after tonight's game.
Padres come from ahead to lose.
Can't wait to hear Giant fans reaction to Pagan if Tingler is dumb enough to put him in a game in SF this weekend.
But the Giant hitters will be lining up to hit off of him.

Not a word about Pagan's shameful performance in today’s UT rag. Not one word.
Maybe if we don’t report it, no one will ever remember it happened…
And this pretty much sums up why there will never be any meaningful changes to the Padres organization or its sickening symbiotic relationship with the local press.
