I was not sure whether this was the best board for this idea, but here goes in any case.
According to what I have read, Derek Chauvin is being held in what amounts to solitary confinement awaiting further legal proceedings. The reason is, as one would expect, the fear that he would be murdered if mixed with the general inmate population.
He may well be sentenced to 40+ years in prison. My question is this; will he be in solitary for as long as he lives? This question can be applied to all officers who are sent prison. Are there special prisons, or sections of prisons, reserved for such inmates?
On a personal note, if I were in his situation, I would find a way to kill myself. No way would I agree to face four or more decades in prison with no hope of eventually gaining my freedom.

He could be isolated with white collar criminals. Derek would than likely be in jeopardy if he was imprisoned with the general population.

Suicide would not be the way. 40 years in prison and changing your life, is MUCH better than spending eternity in hell.

Cops get VIP treatment just like rich people do. It's rare the system sends them behind bars since it's designed to protect the rich from us. So they really have to do something messed up.
Cops would be dead meat the moment they set foot in GP...a punishment they all deserve. It would be the ultimate in poetic justice.

Derek Chauvin Will Remain in a Segregation Unit at a Maximum Security Prison Post-Sentencing"Chauvin is among nearly 300 convicted killers at the prison. Oak Park Heights is currently housing 341 inmates, just under 40% of whom identify as white, according to the prison's data. Of those prisoners, 276 are serving sentences for homicide." "Minnesota inmates must serve a minimum of two-thirds of their sentence, meaning Chauvin could be released in 15 years." www.yahoo.com/news/post-sentencing-derek-chauvin-transferred-194413385.html?.tsrc=fp_deeplinkAt least 15 years in your cell with one hour shower/recreation time...whew!!...well...he's gonna have mental issues when he's released...if his fellow murder prisoners don't find a way to kill him first a la Jeff Dahmer....

Beyond your inappropriate response, lack of judgment and comprehension in a thread about cops killing unarmed victims? Jayland Walker's assassination continues a trend of systemic violence against Black citizens by police departments around the country. Again, he was shot more than 60 times. Sixty. There is zero validity or logic to that. If you want to start another thread about backing the blue...go for it. But your response doesn't belong here. The implication is that you're justifying this behavior based on a random incident that has no equivalence to the issue discussed in this thread.

I can state any opinion I want, and it's within the realm of the topic, just what also can happen to police officer. He was unarmed? He shot at Cops from his car, and fled after a police chase. Do you think the Cops are mind readers, and know he's unarmed at the time? They HAVE to assume he was armed after being shot at. I choose to wait for the body cam footage to come out in these situations, but we all know you love to jump to conclusions and if someone is shot by a police officer, he's automatically at fault. Ridiculous. It's always a tragedy when ANYBODY dies in these situations, whether it's a civilian, or a Police Officer. But, if people would only listen to, and obey the reasonable commands of a police officer, these tragedy's against civilians won't happen as much. On the other hand, unfortunately, police officers will always be easy targets.

You choose to wait for the body cam footage, yet you've already made the assumption that he was armed and that the gun was discharged in the vehicle, despite no verification of that beyond Akron PD's word. So, you're not really waiting. And your response is gross and doesn't belong in this thread as mentioned. If you want to start another about how police officers killing unarmed people should be glorified, go for it. This thread is about Derek Chauvin and other officers who are behind bars for murdering unarmed civilians. I'm not jumping to any conclusions. We have years and years and years of documented evidence that show patterns of police behavior that diverge when race is involved. The FACT, reiterate FACT, is that Jayland Walker was fleeing and was shot 60+ times and his corpse was handcuffed by Akron PD after he was dead. Save your bull$#!+ justifications for someone who cares. Trust me, I'm doing you a favor because your whitewashing comes off as ignorant, callous and disgusting. What happened in El Monte was a random, isolated event. Learn the difference.

It's already a fact that they found a shell casing in his car, and on the ground, among other facts. I choose to wait for all additional footage to come out to judge things that haven't come out as fact yet. You need to save your bulls##t assumptions until each and every fact comes out. Of course in your first post, you didn't want to mention that he shot at police officers. Typical you, glossing over stuff so it fits your rant. When someone HAS to say trust me, it's always the last person I believe AND trust, so save that response for someone else. By the way the shooting of the two El Monte Police Officers was the furthest thing from random, since they were ambushed, and these situations happen quite often in America. This is what's gross, you watering down the horrible act to these Officers who were ambushed. You should be ashamed of yourself.

This is what's gross, you watering down the horrible act to these Officers who were ambushed. You should be ashamed of yourself. Please source where they found a shell casing - The Akron Beacon Journal doesn't provide that context anywhere? www.beaconjournal.com/story/news/local/2022/07/01/akron-police-shooting-jayland-walker-press-conference-bodycam-video/7786766001/You often speak in generalities: "Among other facts" (which you don't provide any of) which doesn't strengthen your argument, it weakens it. He allegedly fired at officers, somewhere along the line, but that's not been confirmed, unless you're just taking their word for it. A gun was recovered in the car, that's all we know, as far as I've read and seen. So if he fired at officers first, sixty shots is somehow justifiable? I can provide an extensive list of people who are White, were actually armed AND murdered people who were somehow taken into custody....just fine. Why is that somehow acceptable? I'm not sure what level your comprehension skills are, but the word "random" means not connected to a greater set of circumstances, in this exact event. The word "isolated" means that similarly it was not part of a systemic pattern of violence against a particular race of individuals. What happened to the officers is a tragedy, as I've said three times. But it's not the relevant issue in this thread. Your first response to a statement of a 25-year-old Black man being shot by police was to post an unrelated false equivalence from weeks ago to somehow deflect or justify what took place. Espousing those Godly values some more while you drown in your own hypocrisy is a bold move.
