Poor pitching and hitting isn't going to beat the Dodgers - it can't even beat the Pirates.
Two nights in a row, the game ends with the Padres ground into another DP. Two nights in a row, one run scored. Against some of the worst pitching in MLB. Good grief.
Lots of money spent with little payoff so far besides on paper. They've looked just like the good ol' loser Padres for the last few games. Pittsburgh may even take this series if they win tomorrow.
The curse continues… Probably because Uncle Teddy isn't on the games anymore.
Hope the offense snaps out of it soon.

Yeah, bats woke up today. Maybe they needed less rest between games - or maybe Jackie Robinson paid a visit during dreamtime last night… hopefully they bring those same bats with them to the Dodgers series. They're gonna need them!

We were 5-2 on the road trip which is EXCELLENT. We're on pace to win 104. Relax.

Won't mention the plethora of starters who aren't even batting their weight right now… 12.5% of the season's already passed by. And the calendar just keeps turning. I hope this lack of offense is just a function of the elite level of pitching they've faced so far. Pitching tries to keep the close, but no hits, no runs, no wins. Thank heavens for Cronenworth, Hosmer and Myers or they'd be in the basement.
The rest have eventually gotta start hitting some of this elite pitching or they'll be stuck right where they are now - in 3rd place, playing .500 ball.
If not for bad luck, this team would have no luck at all. And THAT'S what the Padres have always been about. Something's gotta change. Soon.

Meh . The season just started . Even if the pads end this season subpar I’m not too worried because for once the team is on the right path w ownership committed to winning.

Unbelievable, or believable. Bases loaded, nobody out, then Pham, Myers and Caratini strike out to end the inning, with Pham striking out looking. Sheesh

Ownership may be committed to winning, but they're not on the field. Doesn't seem like hitters are committed to anything right now besides finding new ways to lose baseball games.

Very sad, very very pathetic. Maybe by 2023 we'll have a shot for 2nd place. Not these guys. Their heads are on another planet.

Dodgers will sweep. If we can't score more than 2 runs against the Brew Crew we will get blasted now.

Let's hope this is as low as things get for them this season. Bad enough to lose, but getting swept - again? There's always the suspicion that having 'made it' by way of huge contracts takes too much pressure off players. Pressure that they need to stay hungry. If it doesn't matter how a player performs, they still get paid asinine amounts of money. So, where's the motivation? If the Padres were Aztecs Basketball or Aztecs Football … I can see it now.

not sure how many more years Sidner can pay hundreds of millions to Manny and Fernando with little results. We need to win soon, not by 2030.
