Drove up to Canvas Stadium at Colorado State today. If that’s the model for SDSU I think we’ll be really happy. Looks great from the outside and they seem to have figured out the on campus tailgating aspect, we’ll see tonight. Very exciting to think about what SDSU West could be and the impact it will have on the program.

So far their new stadium hasn't done much for their program.

So far their new stadium hasn't done much for their program. It has done a lot for their program. It has allowed them to play in a new facility, play on campus and have something to be proud of.

If Rocky and his successor can keep us going to Bowl games and winning 8-10 games a year our new stadium will always be full.

So far their new stadium hasn't done much for their program. The whole town is pulling for Colorado State football. Rams gear everywhere. A lot more than the Aztecs have going.

Was about 3/4 to start and then a mass exit at halftime and a mass exit midway through the 3rd. College town experience is definitely here though. Maybe counted only 200 ish Aztec fans.

Their first home game--a 2 pm start. 18,231 announced. Their next home game--an 8:15 start. 24,464 announced. Tonight--homecoming--8 pm start. 29,767 announced. Their attendance is down almost 5,000 per game this year.

A beautiful new stadium helps your program only if you leverage it to build a better team. We must use our stadium to step up recruiting of both players and coaches in a way that CSU clearly hasn’t. Bad football won’t sell no matter where you play it.

I live here in Fort Collins and my son goes to CSU. I have been to 3 games this year and last night was by far the largest crowd. The stadium is well placed on campus and the food inside is pretty good. I park off site and take the MAX shuttle to campus so have never tried to park. Its super convenient and free on game day.
The students are notorious for leaving at half (they get ripped on by the CSU instagram pages) and their team is trash. Bobo is their coach and while the team loves him, none of the fans do.
If our stadium is anything like this or Minnesota’s stadium where my other son goes we will be happy. For the record TCF Bank Stadium (Minnesota) is very similar in size and layout to CSU. Both are mid 40k stadiums.

For how nice The Bank is, it is pretty minimalist. And like CSU, it is not steep.

Not sure that you really answered the question sdsu4life. You have simply make an observation that they are playing in a new stadium, and follow up about "pride" is so subjective as to have little meaning. The question was, "What has it done for the program"? A very good question. Are they now so burdened with debt that the program could collapse? Are there more people attending games? Is the team any better? Are they getting better recruits? These are questions that had positive and reassuring answers BEFORE the completion of the new stadium. Have those questions been revisited since?

Both are mid 40k stadiums. Minnesota's stadium seats 50k. CSU's can hold 41k. Allegedly. I do like the individual stadium seats between the goal lines at TCF Bank Stadium. JD Wicker has said that every seat in our new stadium will have a seat back. I hope that means individual seats versus bleachers with back rests similar to what is in Sam Boyd Stadium currently for UNLV. Regarding students leaving at the half--the same thing happens here.

Have those questions been revisited since? Answering two of your questions: Are there more people attending games? Attendance has dropped each year, with the announced attendance in 2017 of 32,061/game; last year they had 29,504/game; and so far this season they have had 24,154/game. Is the team any better? No. They appear to be getting worse, which is a bad combination when combined with the "newness" factor of their stadium fading, as it often does.

One thing I really want for our stadium is a steep pitch for the seating, like Aztec Bowl was and Viejas is now. I hope that's NOT one thing we copy from Canvas stadium..
