there is still time to add the brick wall like in Aztec bowl to the sidelines. this would be a tribute to where Aztec football started. sam boyd is a fun stadium to watch games. the tailgating on grass makes it great for fans. As I remember it's not brick, it's more of a rock/cobble stone wall. Right! Unfortunately for the Rams, they have not had very good football teams the past five years and that has hurt the attendance even at the new stadium. Sure, some fans will show up to a game just to check out the new facilities, but the poor play of the team does not bring them back. When they start playing well, and getting really good teams then the fans will be there in the numbers they want. Our circumstances are a little different since we have had good winning teams it already helps in our process, and after the new stadium is completed it should help us progress even more! We are in a much better situation than CSU!

Maybe I’m off but I thought they were in a good spot to get an upgrade

It has done a lot for their program. It has allowed them to play in a new facility, play on campus and have something to be proud of. Not sure that you really answered the question sdsu4life. You have simply make an observation that they are playing in a new stadium, and follow up about "pride" is so subjective as to have little meaning. The question was, "What has it done for the program"? A very good question. Are they now so burdened with debt that the program could collapse? Are there more people attending games? Is the team any better? Are they getting better recruits? These are questions that had positive and reassuring answers BEFORE the completion of the new stadium. Have those questions been revisited since? Gee, I thought you were talking about Petco Park. Since the latter part of Sonny Lubick's tenure at CSU, when he stayed too long at the party, the Rams program has had extremely limited success. So ultimately, to your point, no impact regarding on field success or attendance. Nevertheless, the process of paying off the debt has begun. collegian.com/2018/02/csu-begins-process-of-paying-off-239-million-in-stadium-debt/As I had noted on a previous thread, this weekend's attendance may well provide a reality check as to just how far "investors" are willing to pony up for the future of SDSU football.

Rams don't draw the Denver market in reality... the Colorado Buffaloes do.

Yes, in those renderings it appears to be quite steep. The only issue I can see i the lack of protection from rain. If we ever get a chance to play day games that would also be an issue in August/September with the sun. At this time the substantial cost for that addition is not justified. The foundation may be built for a future canopy to be installed but 90% of our games are at night & it rarely rains in San Diego. I would expect to average about 1 game per year at home in the rain. Remember that game against CSU a couple of years back? But it is a minor complaint. Now, were we to play our games during the day it would be a bigger issue.

The rest of the country laughs at thinking a roof is necessary for the challenging weather conditions in San Diego...

However, I do think the lack of some cover, for many season ticket buyers, will have a dampening effect (pun intended) on sales.

You must know, that what triggers, and allows, another big bite of the apple, is a new development. Often a new police station, or public bathroom, or library, is funded by the developer as a condition of a new development. It's extortion, but legal. And THIS is their last shot at fulfilling their wish list in that area.

And THIS is their last shot and fulfilling their wish list in that area. Then my question to the city would be, where is all the development fees that have been collected in the last 3 decades from all the development in the valley, and was any of it actually earmarked for that bridge? I have asked Scott Sherman that very question via email, and I await his response. (Honestly, I don't expect one)

Cooler heads should prevail.

Cooler heads should prevail. No doubt. The campaign and results of Measure G tell you all you need to know about how much political power SDSU has in San Diego. It is not a surprise considering it is San Diego's oldest and largest university with over 300,000 alumni with 60% of graduates remaining in San Diego. This project will move forward... and briskly.

Radio was on KOGO and SS and someone else was on talking about the bridge. They did make it apparent that other developments in the area would have to contribute to the construction of the bridge but that no money would be collected until the bridge is actually constructed.
