Have to wait to see the drawings but the draft EIR has the new stadium occupying 15.4 acres whereas the current stadium uses 15 so I am not anticipating the new one being much steeper than the current stadium, especially given that the front seats will be closer to the sidelines though raised up 4-5' so as the not be obstructed view seats. I wish I would have saved a copy of SC's EIR to see how much acreage that stadium was to command since we know they claimed their design would be steep. I think the thing we need to consider is this. If the sidelines are flatter than the Q, then it'll be a soccer stadium. If as steep, then it'll be a real football stadium. Original stadium design was by Populous and Gensler developed the current blue print design that will be used. It is a much more compact footprint and will be much steeper with premium seating closer to the sidelines. Everything I have heard is it will be individual seat backs.

there is still time to add the brick wall like in Aztec bowl to the sidelines. this would be a tribute to where Aztec football started. sam boyd is a fun stadium to watch games. the tailgating on grass makes it great for fans. UNLV is making a massive mistake. They should have worked with developers and turned that site into a festival spot with bars and amenities. They will regret being even slightly tied to the raiders. I tend to agree with you here but I will wait and see how it plays out before I say UNLV made a mistake.

Clearly many on here don't know we selected Gensler (think LAFC Banc of California Stadium) for our final design team. It is going to be an amazing compact and steep design with wide open concourses (similar to Petco) great amenities and fantastic site lines that will be a great venue for many different events that can flex from 35,000 to over 40,000 for the big events. Also, to compare San Diego attendance to Fort Collins attendance is folly... We already average between 25,000-35,000 in our current dump and regularly have the highest attendance in the MWC and among the best compared to all G5's. Our student attendance is also excellent and is on par with or better than most of the PAC 12. We usually get somewhere between 6,000-8,000 students at games... the new stadium will have reserved seating for 5,000 students. A stadium for SDSU has always been the missing piece of the puzzle and it will be a game changer not only for SDSU Football but for the university and athletic department. San Diego population = 1.42 Million (SD County 3.34 Million) Fort Collins population = 165,080 images.app.goo.gl/7TyYbMDgMvV55jny5images.app.goo.gl/9MuN9K6TYpFYuGbn8

Good crowd. Glad I've got my season tickets. LOL! You jest but I'm telling you if fans don't get season tickets before this opens in 2022 you might regret it. It is going to be a hot ticket and if you don't act early you may not get a seat.

The only issue I can see i the lack of protection from rain. If we ever get a chance to play day games that would also be an issue in August/September with the sun.

The one thing that has been clear for years is that when SDSU got a new stadium that people on this site would find something to bitch about. The new digs are going to be great. Things are in motion. Lets get behind the project instead of pissing and moaning about little things.

I heard on the news today that the city council is meeting in a closed session tomorrow (normal for a Tuesday, apparently), and will be discussing SDSU West.

That bridge is a joke; won’t alleviate traffic it will cause it. In addition the city already agreed to pay for it years ago with the Fenton deal & have failed to build it for one reason or another (primarily Donna Fry & environmental concerns). Was $10 M years ago & is now well over $20M. So, City is trying to push that cost into SDSU. Such BS!

At this time the substantial cost for that addition is not justified. The foundation may be built for a future canopy to be installed but 90% of our games are at night & it rarely rains in San Diego.

We all knew regardless of who won the vote in November that it would be almost impossible for either to move as quickly as they wanted. Majority of the council was against Soccer City and people were lined up to file lawsuits if they won. We knew that a small portion of the council would do everything they could to stop SDSU West.
The City will probably do everything in their power to delay SDSU west for 20 years. This will give the NFL and the Spanos family the ability to say see it wasn't us it was the bozos at the city.

I don’t see this happening at all. 2022 is an aggressive timeline but I do not see this getting held up for more than 1-2 years max. Hell, we might even make the 2022 timeline (fingers crossed).
