UNR has been very underrated in football the last few years. They will be solid this year. I wouldn't mind if they came along the BE ride with SDSU.

Behind CSU Fresno, the most overrated team in our conference this year IMHO.

Not sure that the UNR fan base or TV market is any worse than SDSU's. A lot of kids from Sacramento are attending UNR. It's only a 1 1/2 hour drive. There are a lot of people in Sac Town and Reno combined. You can't tell me that out side of San Diego there are people jonesin' for SDSU football If you add UNR and Fresno, that would add quite a few TVs to the BE West market. Not to mention, because of UNLV's problem with football, people from Vegas are rooting for UNR. Road games and traveling expenses are better as well. Adding two more rivalries also doesn't hurt. Adding FSU and UNR would also make the BW basketball a little better too. UNR does not suck at basketball. They have made several appearances to the NCAA's and have been ranked in the top 10 the last decade. If this BE thing doesn't work out, it cant hurt making friends with schools that could make things competitive if you have to go to or make a new conference. BTW- putting 17-23k in the Murph during back to back winning seasons isn't much of a fan base either. Not bashin' Just sayin'

In Reno's defense, the city has only 220k people, so 20k at a game is not bad.

In Reno's defense, the city has only 220k people, so 20k at a game is not bad. Actually, the greater Reno area including Carson City has about 500k. Mix in the 2.5 million in the Greater Sacramento area an hour and a half away and you have 3 Million people. Your point about putting 20k in the stands with 1/8 the population of San Diego is a valid one. However, their games look full because UNR's Stadium only holds 29k.

until 1985 Nevada had the smallest population in the country. Lower Nevada propagated like Guinea pigs and now they are larger than Wyo and a couple others....

I live in the Sacramento area and there is zero interest in UNR sports up here. Yes kids from Sacramento go to school at UNR but those kids are more of the ski / snowboarding granola type of kids. Which kind of explains the poor attendance UNR has. Those type of kids are more into doing than watching. In other words they are out doing what interest them (boarding) rather than sitting and watching football. These are the types of kids that don't own TV's, drink micro brews and smoke weed. Not huge sports fans.
To even hint that Sacramento is in any way connected to UNR as far as TV market is crazy. All eyes look west up here.

They averaged 19k a game with the greatest team in the history of their program.
The don't even belong in the conversation.

You wil NEVER see UNR highlights on Sacramento news tv. EVER. You will see Cal, Stanford, USC, UCLA, and even Oregon before UNR or Fresno.

They will never have attendance figures worth anything....19k a games is approx 10% of the city....which is quite large, but overall, will never be a school with a full stadium. 29k is just about right for them and to fill it is rather amazing based on the demographic of Reno citizens.

The arguement is kinda weak...and hour and a half away? Then SDSU should have no problem filling the Murph if you include Los Angeles. Reno is a small podunk town, smaller than most people think.

Exactly what I'm saying. What Wyoming does is even more impressive and nobody is arguing they would be a good school to consider for the BE.
