Lindley may have always wanted to go to SDSU, but Long did a good job of Quarterback coaching him when he got here. It's what you do with the recruit once he get's here. It reminds me of the times when people were saying, well KO always wanted to come to SDSU so it wasn't some big coup when Craft got him. Craft coached him up when he got here and helped mold him into a good player. Also, I think I know Steve well enough to say that it is DEFINATELY more of a human being issue with him, rather than his Love for Long. He simply didn't feel that he got the amount of time he needed with his own recruits on the field, and that he has been piled on unfairly by many people, amongst many other reasons. He always feels strongly about standing up for ANYBODY that he feels is being treated poorly. I have the same feelings. Well said John.....And thank you for keeping an open mind and trying to understand what is going on. So many don't.

McQ, Steve, and everyone else - NO MORE CHUCK LONG ON THIS THREAD. Please.
Let's keep focused on the topic (Ryan Lindley).
Or we could just start over again with this one...

It sure is nice for ANYONE from SDSU to get some pub in a region that far away. Any pub at all these days outside of San Diego is a rarity. Lindley deserves it.

I listened to Rivals Radio yesterday while driving around and they interviewed Bobby Petrino, who has an ANNOUNCED Heisman candidate in Ryan Mallett. Petrino said the thing he likes best about Mallett isn't his arm, it's his leadership. Mallett is not just the leader of the offense, said Petrino, the entire team looks up to him. I sense the same is true of Lindley and SDSU.

He may have faults, but we all do - even me (although you may find that hard to believe). I can think of one right off the bat, You're a KISS fan! I said no personal insults. YOU ARE BANNED!!!! Oh, wait. That's no insult! I'm proud of that one... ;D ...and Ryan Lindley is a very good QB who could become one of the 4 or 5 best in Aztec history.

Back to Ryan Lindley...
He is getting some real good pub. I was watching the MTN the other day and they were building him up as one of the top 2 QB's in the conf.
I know the staff is very excited about him having a real big year.

FYI...
Off topic, confrontational, or insulting posts will be deleted.
On topic posts about Ryan Lindley well be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking that he will have a really good year this year.
Phil Steele's got him ranked as the 38th best QB in the nation. I might put him in the top 25 or 30...

Agree with all of this, except I'd call them "good" instead of "very" good. I think he's in for a "very" good year this year. Here is the most amazing thing to me about Ryan Lindley. He has had 2 very good season even though... -He has had 2 different coaches with 2 totally different game plans. -Both years he has had subpar Oline work and no running game. I can agree with that Andre.

Only the last two are bad. The final one particularly so. Brings back memories of the ex's old Air Supply albums. To be fair, you are right. I happen to like Livin' on the Fault Line and the one before it. Still, how can anyone like these more than The Captain and Me or Stampede (or for that matter the albums they've done since MM left)? I can stomach "Takin It To The Streets" (the album), because it has a couple of tunes on it that Tom Johnston wrote. Livin On The Fault Line was fair. I think I have only heard one song off the that last album you posted and when I heard it I didn't even know what band it was. Of course at that time only one original Doobie was left in the band, Pat Simmons.

Local paper scooped by one 3,000 miles away Exactly Because then they don't get to act like smug, know-it-alls, always reminding us of how bad it's been for so long. Cynicism is an easy stance, especially when you've been frustrated for a long time. But even without being rah, rah about the team's chances, feature stories on the players, their backgrounds, their expectations for the season, build interest and the fan base.

Is that the UT's job, to build our fanbase? That paper is going away; but even if we assume that they know how to run their business, should they spend money and page space if no one reads the articles? I'm sure in arkansas and many other places, people are going to read the articles everyday, will they in San Diego?

Why not the Aztecs?

Look at any article in the Chargers section, a hundred, if not hundreds, of comments follow. And the Aztecs would sell papers too, if they promoted them as much as the Chargers and Padres. I am amazed at how many fans back the UT on this....This is our town.
