to be associated with 30 percent of the posters on this board. So we have turnovers, allow huge runbacks, but outplay a good San Jose team that almost beat Stanford who beat USC and folks are losing their heads. $#!+ happens people. Grow up. I'm mad we lost too, but give them credit they made plays when they had to. I'm usually the first person to be really down after a loss, but not tonight. Ok.. let loose on me. I can take it.

But the real point is that they did NOT make plays when they had to, correct? And that is MY point and that deficiency comes from the HC, his decisions, his coaches, his recruiting----all substandard.

Wayno, I agree with you 100%, we have very fickle fans that would turn on their own just to bitch.

Aztec Sun You can't "turn on your own" , when I disagreed vociferously with Sterk about the mistake it would be to hire Rocky Long. He is morphing into Ted Tollner, with a little Chuckster in his step.

And that is MY point and that deficiency comes from the HC, his decisions, his coaches, his recruiting----all substandard. No I don't think it comes down to the head coach. Did the head coach allow the run backs? Did the head coach throw the int or cause the fumbles? I'm really going out on a limb here but I was also one of the few who thought that Marty was a good coach for the chargers. All he did was get them into the playoffs year after year. In football there are certain things that happen within a game that cannot be controlled. As a coach you try to put you team in a position to win. Chuck Long did not do that ever. But with Rocky we have a strong team that can run and pass the ball and a defense that can occassionally play very well. Sometimes I think you just have to chuck up some wins or losses to fate. You cannont predict or prepare for two HUGE runbacks and turnovers inside your red zone. But that stuff happens. You just have to move on and overcome and I was actually happy with the way we responded in this game.

Imagine how us 30 percent feel that people are making excuses for losing to a mediocre San Jose State team at home We really don't need excuses. We need reality. Our coaches, ALL of our coaches, need to go to other schools to work their "magic". No more part time discount graduate assistants And I noticed that our supposed super strength coach would keep us from getting gassed late in the game, but seems the system isn't working yet. Maybe next year.

I've been following Aztec Football for more than 45 years and I'm still waiting for a time when I can see a collective, solid effort on both sides of the ball plus special teams play at this level for more than two or three games at a time. Yes, every year we have stars but what team doesn't?
Really don't care if you're ashamed of me.

Thhis is my team, and win or lose will always be my team! posted drunk

The other teams who lost today having this same reactions on there boards. I wish we had answers, but I"ll say this, we'er still undefeated in the Mountain West last I remember and I'm not throwing in the towel on the season because 2 tuff games for the D. The team could rally back. Yes it sucks loosing, but all the unrealistic talk of firing Rocky now is getting way out of hand. He's going no where, good year or bad, unless he wants to. I think the years of bad football has made some so pessimistic that this team will always have flaws to complain about. I can't put too much emotions into losses, on to the next game.

I'm not talking about firing anyone. But ONCE AGAIN, its time to water down our expectations and become conditioned to a mediocre season and asked to shut up and like it.

After tonight I'm ashamed of even visiting the MWC and BE boards. Thanks, Rocky. You made me realize there are other activities in life besides following Aztec football so closely. What a guy.

I have not been on board for long but some of the comments on this board makes me sad to be associated with Aztec fans.

Another year...same results. Hatfields had their McCoys...Pollyannas have their Naysayers. Bottle is half empty...bottle is half full and on and on and on and on.
