WTF, the conference took more money over exposure? ? ESPN wanted to buy the rights Versus offered more, so they took the Verses offer. STUPID. Gottlieb says conference coaches are pissed.

Short term focus. The VS. $$$ now won't replace the national exposure.

I'm already getting tired of telling people where they can find CBSCS and VS...

I would bet the conference had no choice? If Versus already had the rights, they could only be bought out by a higher bid? If not - what an incredibly stupid decision.

That's a shame, it's the biggest regular season game in conference history and they blow it. ESPN would have been spotlighting that game all day.

I am sure all MWC schools wish they could fire Thompson and end his MTN.TV contract right now. Both are a joke.

This is the same conference that sold the MTN to Comcast and CBS. The MWC presidents have to make a clean sweep of the small time operators in that administration. We will forever remain a stagnant conference with guys like Thompson & Co at the helm.

Maybe ESPN needs to come to the table with a stronger deal next time the entire TV contract comes up. I hate the TV deal but things like this will make ESPN realize we are for real in the next negotiation.

CBS owns the rights - not the conference.

Probably low balled us and we wanted to stay true to VS because they are our current customer.

it;s on cbs college sports. You guys also act like each game is brought into town square and a carnival barker starts and competing parties go at it. We have a tv deal, espn offered far less money, less dates, and non-traditional days and start times. The MWC can't just decide, we have a good game we're pulling that out and re-packing it.
