As far as this Aztecs Fan is concerned, Craig Thompson and in particular Mnt.tv have done absolutely nothing for the Aztecs and conference members other than have all of us scramble each week to watch our local teams while the nation and the media at-large much more than less ignore our teams because we are nationally invisable.
As it is, Mnt.tv has been a negative experience even when you are successful watching a game because Mnt.tv production is second-rate at best.

A couple thoughts here...the game was always scheduled for CBS College Sports so who was bidding against ESPN, was it Vs? If so, were they bidding to keep the game on CBS College Sports or is it moving to Vs?
Second, I'm pretty sure Vs. is part of basic cable (it is in San Diego, likely nationwide) not an additional subscription or sports tier. Still not the same as ESPN, but more than CBSCollege Sports (which is not basic cable).
I would have liked to see it on ESPN since they are the world-wide leader and would provide even more coverage.
That being said, we are not lacking coverage right now. Just check out the links on this message board and/or ESPN, SI.COM, CBSSports.Com. We are very much featured on all these (and many more I'm sure) websites.

I know from a member of the athletic department there was discussion with ESPN about this game as of last week. If this was the case (and I have reason to doubt you) I am glad we stuck with our TV partners. Would it have been cool to have teh game on ESPN, yes. But who we got the deal from (CBSCS, Vs, and the mtn) is our guys. ESPN probably wnted it for BYU basketball since that is their guy next year. I would love a great paying contact on ESPN that allowed us to schedule reasonable games. We did not get that and I doubt we will ever get that. While I don't like our current deal at all levels, it seems to be getting better and we are with them for a few more years. We need to "dance with one who brung us".

Yeah, because ESPN showed our WAC/MWC basketball all of the time when we were with them...

If any of you guys have a structured settlement with monthly payments please PM me and I'll give you a some cash and buy it from you. You know it is your money and you need it now.
Direct TV dropped VS last year. VS want more money and Dricect TV would not pay them what they wanted.
So now VS has a valuable asset the Aztec BYU game that will justify why Direct TV needs to care VS.
Did not CBS just sign a good deal with Conference USA this month?
Now all you mind readers think Thompson is an idiot.
Is there not a meeting Jan 24th about expansion of the Mountain?
Did not ESPN and BYU have a secret deal?
So you want to trust both of them before Jan. 24?
Sorry I am a numbers man and do not make decisions based on emotion.
My father was a great car salesmen. I watched him Barry families with bad decisions.
Dave Ramsey is based in Nashville. He gets all these calls from people who made bad decisions because they wanted to impress their friends.
Hurry sign today and be on ESPN next week. We ESPN will make you big time, not winning your 21 game.

The Oracle understands most of the logic discussed here, but those of you that don't want the game to be on ESPN just because it is ESPN are ignorant

I read people saying they dislike ESPN AND want them to have to pay top dollar to get the MWC product. I didn't see anybody say F them because they're ESPN.

What is the relationship between Vs. & CBSCollege Sports? If Vs. really did outbid CBSCollege Sports, is the game going to be moved to Vs.? I still haven't seen an answer.
I do believe that ESPN would want this game, so I can see them bidding on it.

I never got to see Aztec games on tv, when we were on espn. NOw I see a bunch of them. Get directv and you won't have a problem. And they pay us more money then espn.

UNLV SID told me just now that the VS deal was mad 6 years ago. And Mnt.tv may have generated a little money but certainly has cost the MWC a lot more in lack of national exposure.

don't confuse them with facts here as these people have no idea what they are talking about. Don't confuse fan speculation with what you perceive to be fact. You have no idea if ESPN has the ability to buy one game or not. Other posters have no idea what they're talking about? Pot calling the kettle black comes to mind. UNLVSIDWasik Mark Wasik @ @coachkays They might have tried, but we're in the middle of a 10-year TV deal, so CBS College/VS already paid for the rights years ago. 8 minutes ago Mark Wasik UNLVSIDWasik Mark Wasik ESPN never offered to buy the SDSU game, the Vs deal was made six years ago @coachkays This all started with a rumor that has no basis in fact.

And of course here is the rest of my conversation with the SID.
@coachkays Exactly, and its not in CBS/Vs's best interests to pay us all that money, and then not get to show our marque game of the season

People here have no idea what the parameters of the deal were. Maybe ESPN wanted to pay a lot less. Maybe ESPN wanted the game at 9pm pacific (10 Mtn)
Jumping to conclusions is not the best approach to handle this.

Yeah, I guess lath should probably STFU huh? Some people are effing clueless about our TV Deal. We're #6 (at least) in the nation right now. Yeah, we're really getting killed by lack of exposure...
