The need to do a MUCH better job of in game fan engagement and creating a unique environment. ( I know I'm preaching to the chior here). Is it possible to have color changing LEDs in the stadium lights. Get a nice Aztec Red glow in the stadium at some point or a blackight effect for some sort of cool halftime show. Stadium is supposed to be the latest technology, but the in game script is the same cookie cutter scripted canned crap copied from the Chargers and carried over from the Q. Yes, the school can do a much better job marketing and doing things to make the game day experience worth the ticket. Given SDSU's reputation as a business school, you would think they have the talent available to do that. Yeah, this has been a constant complaint for a long time.

The quotes in this article from "SDSU’s deputy AD for strategic communications and brand advancement" show you just how out of touch our athletics dept is when it comes to pricing and generating interest. I'm well aware that they are privy to more inside information than I, but the proof is in the pudding. Little late season gimmicky "incentives" won't do shite. It sucks for recruits, it sucks for the current players, it sucks for the school as a whole, and most of all, it sucks for us fans who truly care about the football program and want to see it do well. I liken it to a parent watching their kid continually make wrong choices and spiral down a path from which they may never recover. “What’s the value you place on your product? You have to be disciplined throughout the year to maintain that value and keep prices where they are.”Are you F'n kidding me? We think we're Ohio State, yet our strategy is making us look much more like Sam Houston or UMass (the two worst attended programs). Read this and weep... www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2024/11/06/aztecs-begin-2025-season-ticket-renewals-while-trying-to-boost-crowds-for-last-2-home-games/Actually, State has a better handle pricing than the posters on this forum on the whole. If State dropped the price 50%, I doubt that they would sell every seat in the house. Their jobs are to optimize attendance and dollars in the bank. Philosophically, their strategy is destined to fail. They took a potentially great thing and squandered it. The basketball program did it the right way. Affordable tickets and season ticket plans, slowly build momentum, and slowly raise prices. I'm not saying football can't right the ship, but their chances of doing so with their current strategy is almost nil. I'm well aware they've got bills and bonds to pay but drawing 14-18k per game won't do it and won't grow the program either.

San Diego is an event City. It’s been like that for 60 years. Even back in the Coryell years, the Fireworks game always drew the biggest crowds. In 2024, Aztecs basketball and Padres baseball are the “events” people want to go to. They draw because they win. Aztecs football isn’t an event because it’s just not “Big Time” enough to interest the casual fans. Interest would have been generated if the PAC-12 had held together, but it didn’t. Boise State is back and their fans are turning out. Nobody in SD is going to pay top dollar for a mediocre product regardless of where they play. If this team can get back to winning a minimum of 10 games a year and be in the hunt for a playoff spot, people will turn out. Basketball has proven that.

I think it was mentioned regarding Grand Canyon University, that they REQUIRED all freshmen to go to games. I think that is a great idea here. If you can require them to live on campus, then requiring game show-up should be on the list as well.

Ask yourself, what are they trying to maximize? Dollars or attendance? How does pricing things very cheaply impact brand value and eventual consumption by the consumer? Dropping prices is not the panacea that people make it out to be, it has consequences.

The fan base wont go to games if its not an event even if given free tix.

I agree with most of what has been said. I understand the financial situation that State is in, and they are trying to find a happy medium. Honestly, they just need to get more local kids in attendance. Get the military more involved, get the recruits out of bootcamp to one game a year. Make the upper deck such a good deal with a hot dog, drink, parking, etc.
I think there is much more that can be done. Let the Gucci crew have their fancy Club and all. But gets butts in seats. Then have folks walk around and bring people down to the lower bowl for better experience and fill it out.
I have been to different venues where they bring people down to improve the experience and make the optics better for TV. Just get butts in seats! The rest will work it out. Upper deck seats should be less than affordable, and I don't care what the financials say.

My family was going to get the 4 of us tickets to a FB game for my birthday, but when they saw the prices, they opted for a basketball game instead. It was less expensive to attend a MBB game than FB...and the product is better.

Between the hash marks and between the 20 yard lines, the field looks like 💩💩💩.

Between the hash marks and between the 20 yard lines, the field looks like 💩💩💩. Probably because of the lack of canopies.

Holy cow, do you see how much sand is being kicked up? It’s not just certain spots, it’s the entire field. They are playing on the beach. And you see all the dead patches? Why does our ground struggle so much? Does SD not have the ideal weather conditions to grow grass? Is it just a bad allocated budget?

What an embarrassment. Fire the field crew. If you can grow grass in San Diego you don't know what you you are doing.
