We have to trust Dutcher on this one, if a very good talented player were to fall in our laps, I think Dutcher would find a way to seal the deal. Delayed scholarship, or some other creative idea. I wouldnt assume DJ could do well D2 either, maybe JC, but too late for that. As recruiting improves Aztecs should continue to recruit over some fringe recruits, just part of being a powerhouse program. I think the bigger concern is Heide, he just needs to develop some touch around the rim, needs a little confidence, Aztecs need him to step up, I’m wondering if he’s done this? He figures to be a part of the 8-9 man rotation so I’m optimistic he’s made some improvement. I was saying last season that I expected Heide to be much better this (24-25) season and really break out next (25-26) season. Sadly if he does have a big improvement this season he may not be with us for the following season. Damn NIL.  |

I do remember reading that Heide was recruited personally harder by Dutcher than any other SDSU player. Coach sees a lot of upside with Heide. I am expecting bug things from him this coming season.

I read similar things about his recruiting process. Dutch said he hasn't gone after a kid this hard since Juwann Howard. |

Coaches - players and fans should get additional information after the game 10/30 although the opponent is not like playing UCLA but is a gauge

I’d prefer a slam dunk and one for 3 point play. Biggest issue I saw last season was trying to move to quickly, just catch the bounce pass first, then take his time with a strong move or pass if warranted. Part of being a freshman I hope. Kind of like a receiver trying to run before they catch the ball. |

Read an article (or podcast) that said that Heide had 3 point range. Found that interesting. Well, I wouldn't get too excited about his alleged outside shooting prowess. He was 0-3 from behind the arc last year, and shot 36% from the FT line. Neither are indicative of solid shooting ability beyond the paint. |
