This is in response to the note section: Just come out and say you took the money. No shame in that. Rutgers sucks but you got paid. End of story.

These players so badly want to pretend that it isn’t all about who is paying them the most. Wish one would just be honest and say “I’m going with Rutgers cause they gave me the best NIL offer.”

Anyone know why Reese-Waters didn't play? Dutcher said he’s been dealing with a foot issue on the radio yesterday, but should be good to go for the opener. He had feet problems last year. Hope it was foot and not ankle. He never seemed to get over that.

I love how ignorant college athletes are about how the world works. Is he really that stupid that he thinks the Aztec NIL budget is the same as Ohio State's? Ohio State lost by 18 to Cincinnati in a scrimmage this weekend. Parrish and another guy led them with 11 points each but combined to shoot 6-23 while doing so.

What a box score lol. I'll take the turnovers this early in the season if it comes with efficient shooting. Having Nick and Wayne healthy probably cuts those TOs down by a lot and Magoon will continue to grow. Honestly just really excited that we did not get blown out. BJ PLEASE BE THE TRUTH!!

Can’t take too much from it but it is encouraging. My biggest concern with Gwath is he has been in development mode and hasn’t played against competition in 1.5 years. 8 turnovers shows it might take some time for him to get into real game speed, just like it took Ledee a season to go from role player to stud. BJ made a statement that he wants real mins which is great for how banged up our guards are right now. A little surprised with Heide/JCJ coming off injury Compton didn’t get more playing time. Just based off mins played it looks like Byrd may have played 1-4. Turnovers were high but the article said UCLA pressed almost the whole game. Really hoping he can slow down while still making impact plays on both sides of the floor.

Wow, I feel like BJ Davis has been somewhat of a letdown so far, would be huge to have him regularly contribute like that. Perhaps he just needed a little more confidence? Seems like it could have been somewhat of a blowout without so many turnovers? Defense seemed solid based on stats, held UCLA to 34.5% FG%. He was a freshman last year.

He was a freshman on an experienced team Yep, further proof that fans shouldn't be jumping to conclusions about players based on just a few limited minutes while they're true freshmen. By the same token, a great encouraging sign from BJ, but let's still let him ease into the rotation and not expect scoring outbursts like that every game. I know that's like talking to a wall in some cases.

I liked what i saw of Davis last year in the limited time he played. Can only get better. Glad he’s going to play more.

Wish one would just be honest and say “I’m going with Rutgers cause they gave me the best NIL offer.” It's true of course, but realistically who is going to say that? That just creates a PR nightmare for yourself, especially if you don't perform as expected. In retrospect, I guess Micah Parrish did indeed basically say that and look at the backlash he's gotten. I absolutely HATE the system the way it's set up, but you definitely can't blame the players for accepting the payout while they can get it. Such a small percentage will get to play professionally, so this is the next best thing. I'm sure in some cases, these players are getting pressure from parents/family as well. Is it good for the game overall? Hell no! But it does help some families who may need it. I just know it can't be sustained as it is now. You're gonna end up having the Elon Musks of the world deciding who they want elected to win championships.

Indeed, and his dad knows the NBA isn't going to happen. Loyalty to your school/job/home/girlfriend/whatever only goes so far when there's a chance to make $$$ that you wouldn't otherwise have if you stay in place. Like I've said, I hate it but understand. Hope things change soon.

It just no occurred to me, that of all the guys that transferred out, the only one I will miss is Cade Alger. The other guys were MW good, but not that good. I agree, Aztecs finished 5th in conference last year, they saved their season with the sweet 16 run. Could have lost to San Jose state, UCSD, etc teams that Aztecs should have beaten soundly. Aztecs were abused all season by opposing guards, SDSU guards could not defend or stop penetration from opposing guards, SJ state, NM, Utah state, Nevada on and on. My intuition is a part of Dutcher was excited to go out and secure the players he did to improve this team. IMO he has, and I’m expecting a big year with the best guard depth the team potentially has ever had. Not to mention an athletic offensive minded 7 ft weapon in Gwath, 2 ready to play and contribute freshman. Dutcher is a genius!

Would love to know what Byrd's 5 TOs looked like. He often tried for the spectacular pass last year and it rarely worked. I know UCLA pressed the whole game so that has to account for some of he and BJs 11 total TOs but how the hell did Gwath have 8?!
