Good for her. The more females standing up the better! She has been a coach for 20 years, but decided this issue was big enough to take a stand and risk her career and livelihood (she has been suspended indefinitely). It takes a lot of courage to do that! Glad she is taking it to the courts.

This suspended coach was alerted to the plan from fleming and a Colorado State player to injure Slusser during a previous game. There are 2 videos on Youtube (one from Irene Bit USA and one from Black and White Sports channel) reporting these allegations. A plan to injure an opposing or one of your own player(s) are grounds to remove that player from the team (in this incident). kress must be fired.

I feel bad for the females on the SJSU volleyball team. Dream of playing for a D1 school only to have it disrupted like this.

It's possible that is true, but at this point those are only supposed allegations. A situation like this can cause a lot of speculation. Often that speculation can distract from what is actually true. The male player could be a great teammate, or a horrible one, but it doesn't change the fact that we have a male player playing on the female team. And other female players are rightfully concerned enough to cancel playing against the team with a male player. Now we have a coach of 20 years that is standing up and filing a complaint in court. And she is suspended indefinitely by SJSU. I hope other teams, players, coaches and administrates follow suit and this situation can get resolved.

Sorry fellow Aztec football fans, that was rough. But for those following this story the UT had an article about Lady Aztec volleyball playing SJSU today. www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2024/11/08/sdsu-hosts-san-jose-state-womens-volleyball-team-amid-continued-controversy/Here is SDSU women's volleyball statement on the issue. “We love playing the sport of volleyball,” a statement from SDSU’s team said. “We remain focused on continuing our strong start to the season and competing for a Mountain West championship. Our decision to play is not intended to be any kind of statement besides demonstrating our commitment to volleyball.” Understandable. I would just want to play too, and not deal with this. But it's missed opportunity to support the other teams that have forfeited, and women's sports in general. That's why I have a lot of respect for those teams that took a stand. It's not an easy thing to do.

It's not an easy thing to do. Just another example of the leadership from the top NOT doing a very good job in the Athletic department at SDSU. I feel that the AD should be stepping up and talking with the Volleyball program and directing them in a direction of showing more support of the the game then the individuals needs and wants. This is soo much bigger then just playing a game and "continuing our strong start to the season". These players need to understand and support everyone who came before them in building and establishing WOMEN"S Sports and Title IV.

My guess is the personal cost is too high for those in leadership to say or do something. They would be going against school policy and the law, correct? Who wants to lose their job and career over that? Better to just go with the flow because this is too big to fight. Mix that in with individuals and institutions that believe it is good for trans-women to be allowed to play in sports. That's why players taking a stand is so necessary and effective. They are the ones directly impacted by having males play in their sport. They are women athletes standing up for women athletes, which is hard for leadership to ignore.

That was the point I was trying to make, these players need more direction from above BUT THEY are the ones that need to make a stand not the coaches or administrators. These are some basic issues that need to be resolved sooner then latter. I find it hard that these players who have played and competed against women their entire athletic careers now want to play against some dude, who just woke up one day and now wants to compete against gals. I understand it's maybe a little more then that but when you break it down it's really that simple a guy playing against girls.

I agree except I don't think being trans is just waking up one day and saying "I'm a dude". I don't understand all the details, but having gender dysphoria is a thing, and it would really be tough having that, no matter how it comes about. So I sympathize with the individual, and hope they live their life in peace, but sports are divided male and female for a reason. And it is unfair and frankly selfish for a male to be participating in female sports.
Edit: I would add, the trans-individual cannot expect other individuals to agree with what they might believe is true. So part of living in peace will be accepting that not everyone is going to see them as they would like to be perceived.
Edit: It would be best if the whole team called in sick!

Congrats to the fans at this sjsu game who had the Save Women's Sports Banner. The Aztecs staffer who confronted the fan for comments was wrong as police watched. Props to this male fan who used his 1st Amendment rights defense against the Aztecs staffer. This incident with the staffer and fan is shown on video titled Police on Standby... on the Black and White Sports channel on YouTube.
