Yeah, I'd swap UNLV for Fresno. I'd also swap anybody for Fresno. Be careful, you might be AWAKENING YODA from the Swamps of the Fresno Raisin fields....

Too bad about UNLV. With the addition of a MLB and NFL franchise and its already set in cement status as a destination city - including easy travel access and accommodations - Las Vegas is seemingly a no-brainer. So it's likely that negotiations are on-going there, too. ReNO, though. Maybe UNLV can pay UNR Nevadimony? I'm pretty sure I am the first person to say that word.

Yeah, I'd swap UNLV for Fresno. I'd also swap anybody for Fresno. Not me. Fresno has been good at football for decades. They have been far more consistent than we have. They have a good fan base which is probably better than ours in football at least. They are the only longtime rival that we still play. We should always be playing Fresno. UNLV? Who cares? Not me.

I think the Pac-2 was only willing to give up $43,000,000 to the MW. This could be part of it, though there are probably also some parallel negotiations going on right now to attempt to reduce that figure. It's important, though, that the president's email this morning was clear that no state funds ill cover expenditures related to this move … Still, they had to include that based on the addressees: SDSU students, faculty and staff. A steady 6% increase each year for the next five years for tuition, the successful contract negotiations last spring in combination with the lower than expected budget increase from the state has already produced a greater than expected number of courses axed already this semester. New hires are not yet officially frozen, but they're also not being aggressively pursued, either. Some departments that had budgeted for tenured positions have had to put those plans on hold because of all of the budget fears and instead are cutting and combining courses - the minimum 15 students to run a class this semester is being strictly enforced. Most departments lost sections as a result. So yeah, if 1¢ was going to be spent on this transfer of conferences, there'd be an uproar. Still, ADLT's email did not clarify where the money was going to come from either … Sportico's College Sports Finances Database: A.D. Revenue and Expenses (2022/23)

Would any Texas schools make sense? Pretty prime recruiting ground, right?

Wasn't this fee created by us bailing out the PAC2 in the 1st place and them not making the obvious move of inviting other schools? So we saved their football season scheduling last minute. And now we're saving them having a conference, while they've used our cities for their recruiting grounds, and making a fortune more in gravy train funds, while bringing in less revenue. Why should Fresno, Boise, SDSU pay anything? Shouldn't the PAC2 pay the fees since it was their own feet dragging? Do I have this wrong? I think the Pac-2 was only willing to give up $43,000,000 to the MW. This could be part of it, though there are probably also some parallel negotiations going on right now to attempt to reduce that figure. I’ve listen to a couple news conferences. If you believe the people talking are giving the honest truth, this wasn’t really discussed until the MW & PAC-2 couldn’t come to an agreement. At that point there were discussions but it really picked up steam within the last week. I’m guessing UNLV has an invite but they need to come without Nevada and that is going to take some time. I’d imagine the other school is east of Colorado but there wasn’t a consensus on school.

I'd take Tulane and Memphis first. In theory yes, but I sense a vibe that the new-Pac wants to stay Pacific & Mountain time only re. geography

www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsMZyUPlrGY Check out what these guys are saying around min 10. Allegedly, the PAC2 is playing hard ball with UNLV, who was questioning if the value is even there. The PAC2 needs these schools to try to keep it going. There is no guarantee the PAC2 remains a Power Conference. Why go without negotiating the PAC2 pays 100% of the penalties? This was the agreement they signed with the MWC, and they have no chance without adding schools.

Would any Texas schools make sense? Pretty prime recruiting ground, right? UTSA bring you San Antonio, the 7th largest city in the US (we are 8th). They have no football team and Texans love their football. They are not a full member of the ACC, so they likely would have a smaller exit penalty. They've only been a FBS school for like a dozen years UNT is in Denton, part of the Dallas Fort Worth metro center. Also not a full member of the AAC. Biggest prizes would be Memphis and Tulane though I think UTSA has a very high ceiling.
