Made for a really cheap date. I remember (early to mid 70's) when I was a kid it was free and every year most the San Diego Unified elementary schools would have field trips to the zoo. These days had to have been terrible days for the employees of the Zoo, the animals, teachers, aides, chaperones..... thinking back on it, we were little deviants and just ran wild in that place. Back on task, they built a serious following back then by allowing kids in for free, they made up for it by up charging for food and must have souvenirs for everyone. The SD Zoo is now OVER-FOLLOWING with money from (more then a few) people who have been going to the zoo since they were kids (because it was free). They build up a serious fan base because it was a very affordable family friendly thing to do, that everyone could afford as a family and would then take all their guests and would tell any and all people the Zoo is a MUST DO thing when visiting in San Diego. Simple concept, build up demand then increase prices as demand increases.

Did you take the horse and buggy? I couldn't afford a buggy in those days. They were over priced. Yeah, but back then the zoo only had a couple pterodactyl, a brontosaurus, and a t-rex.

Speaking as a late 30’s alumni that is relatively well off, I still have yet to attend a game at Snapdragon. It is because none of my friends will attend with me – due to these prices. They are all SD natives like me, but I’m the only SDSU alumnus.
These prices irk me, but I’m willing to pay. Those with no ties to the school are excited for an invite but pull the Homer Simpson into the hedges when they see the prices. So I don’t attend either since I have no one to go with.
These friends all have 6 figure incomes but most have young children, student loans, high interest mortages or otherwise tight budgets. We are all football starved too, so many have been turning to Friday Night Lights. Tonight I drove down the block to watch my RB Broncos trounce Point Loma 37-17 on their homecoming. $12 for a ticket, $7.50 for a Chick-fil-A spicy chicken sandwich, free parking, BYOB if you’re discreet.
Great evening of entertainment for under $20. Packed house. Engaged, rowdy crowd. The people we should be trying to attract to build for the future. We can only milk our aging, hardcore fans for so long.

Had a buddy from Maryland who wanted to go to the UCLA game last year and saw the prices well over $100 bucks and he couldn't justify it for teams he has zero ties to.(neither could I) -- Thankfully I have access to the Military discounted tickets usually around $30 which has been the only way I've been able to get friends/family outside the fan base to attend.

Still tons of tickets available today because they are too expensive. I don’t know who SDSU is consulting with about setting ticket prices but they are getting ripped off. $156 for upper deck home side. Hell no. After 2 full seasons in Snapdragon and they still don’t understand the market.

Coach Lewis should mention to our price setters that a great environment is important. Then any math major can use a formula to balance volume and price to show lowering prices drastically in the upper decks that go unsold can actually keep profits same or higher. I have no qualms if the price drops in my section. Lower the single game tix ASAP.

This is the 3rd season and they still are having the same issues selling tickets in a NEW stadium, this tells you something is wrong. There is still a major issue attracting students and keeping the students at games. The people are still not happy with pricing and availability of more affordable options at concessions stands, they do have a nice selection of higher priced items but not many when it comes to other things. The parking price is still pretty steep (not everyone likes the trolley), there currently is an abundance of space for parking so why gouge people now, we all know in a few years parking will be at a premium and we will need to pay up then but why now? ----------------- The time is now for this University/Program to bring in some serious outside help to get a better understanding of what is needed because they are again showing they are unable (in-house) to figure out what is needed to improve and promote this football program. The game day optics on TV are terrible, when over a half empty stadium is shown from the start to finish, things do not look good (in a basically new stadium ). This is not what a bigger conference wants to see week after week. Lets Go Aztecs! Beat those Beavers!

The novelty of the new stadium has worn off. It’s all about the product on the field, which is trending positively and the price to attend a game. The casual fan isn’t coming out for $100+ per ticket. Some of SDSU’s football tickets are close to NFL prices. Until SDSU is winning more than they are losing those prices aren’t going to work. Even if SDSU was a top 25 team $100+ upper deck seat would be a tough sell. It’s amazing that they still don’t understand the San Diego market.

I'm curious. Are our prices higher than what UCLA/USC charges for their tickets? How much lower do you think our ticket prices should be compared to what you're paying now? Keep in mind SDSU has an annual debt to pay for. Once they drop prices it becomes a bitch to raise them again to a reasonable level, no matter how high attendance reaches. Case in point, when they increased prices for Viejas many posters here bitched and said they're dropping their season tickets. Well fine, based on attendance there's proof others can afford it.

It really doesn’t matter what other schools are doing. Each market is unique. Would you like to have people in the seats or empty seats? That’s what this comes down to.
If you want people in the seats lower the prices. If you want empty seats keep doing the same thing. It’s a pretty simple issue to solve.

If you want empty seats keep doing the same thing. It’s a pretty simple issue to solve" The above statement is as simple as it gets, people are not attending games right now, everything added together is keeping people away mainly due to prices when you add in Tickets, parking and concessions it's just not working out right now for this fanbase They should be putting together single game discount ticket packages for families and small groups for the non-selling tickets (buy 3 get one free with one free parking pass?) (buy 2 get 2 along with 4 free hotdogs) ................................... the easiest thing to start with is the parking right now because in the next couple years the parking will be an issue and the price will reflect it so take advantage now with the flexibility.
