Are they less at other venues in CA for comparable offerings? Viable alternatives include eating before the game, bringing something to eat at the tailgate etc. I grew up with nothing and had to make adjustments to attend games but found a way to made it work to support my team. Food at any sporting event is very expensive throughout the country. Ticket prices everywhere for premium seats are expensive. These has always concern me in regards to us ever getting into a major conference because we appear to half the weakest fan support of any major college. First to complain about anything. It may be the fact that our fan base is old and just likes to complain about even the sun coming up in the morning everyday. Lol Yes, like you, I make due. Like you, I grew up poor. That’s all the more reason I won’t pay for concessions, and yes, I bring my own food or eat at home before I come to Snapdragon. Just because other venues, e.g., Petco, charge outlandishly doesn’t justify the ripoffs elsewhere. Sports venues are ruining the experience, or causing non-participation for ordinary families. And please, don’t lecture me about my support: I am a long time season ticket holder for football and basketball, not to mention giving the school athletics a good portion of my RMD every year.

Professional player salaries are increasing at a very rapid rate. Someone has to pay for that. Now we are seeing that in collegiate sports. We needed a new stadium just to try to keep up.

From the Oregon State message board --
"I will be in attendance... I still have not purchased my game tix yet... I keep hoping they will go down in price/it seems that the are over priced to me..."

We went to Corvallis last year - tix were not less expensive there than they are here - and we sat in the Aztec section at the far end of the upper deck.

Sounds like there's an industry problem, and an opportunity to make a difference. How about offering a great deal and charging less than the market rate to draw a huge crowd and increase demand. Then if it's a good product we can easily raise prices and maintain demand
Certainly would beat having a half empty stadium... and probably generate more money too

Thank the Lord that we are all Free To Choose in this country. You all are free to do with your money as you choose and I support the hell out of that. I also support your right to complain about ticket and food prices 100%. However, the prices are the prices, and we all can complain until we are blue in the face and the prices won’t change. At some point you have to deal with reality. The reality is that the university is charging a certain price to attend the game in a certain seat. If you don’t like it then don’t buy the ticket. You will send a message so long as others believe the same.
Anyone been to the zoo, the wild animal park, sea world, or the birch aquarium lately? Have you seen the prices charged for entrance (even with a 3 for 1 pass) and for food and drink? An SDSU game at Snapdragon is a bargain. The freaking Birch aquarium is absolutely ridiculous for what you get. And they rape you for food and drink compared to SDSU. And I’d 1,000% rather spend a few hours watching an SDSU game than wandering around a crappy small aquarium that suckers people in and rapes the hell out of them.

I paid $35 to walk Torrey Pines yesterday...4 hours of exercise, sunshine, and the opportunity to enjoy one of the best golf courses in the world... I don't typically go amusement parks, the zoo, the aquarium, professional baseball game, or out to eat / drink at a typical downtown restaurant (where a meal and glass of wine can exceed $75 pp including tax / surcharges / tip) doesn't work for me... I do go to the beach...to the free concerts in Balboa Park...the the various art shows...hikes up on Cowles Mtn. and Potato Chip Rock...play pickleball at various venues...or have a BBQ at Mission Bay or Balboa Park...free...free...free...free...free (but you need to bring your own food)... A movie typically costs about $20...a play at the Old Globe is about $40 (less for plays at other venues)... Yes...that is the going rate for a D1 college football game...but I'm thinking that if they figure out a way to sell 100 tickets at $10,000 each...they could REALLY maximize revenues...everyone else can watch the game from home...or a bar that charges $20 for a weak margarita

Tickets were dirt cheap for several years, even though we had a pretty much new arena and the program was already having sustained success (though sans any NCAA tourney wins). Tickets are quite a bit more now, but the changes were justified based upon the product on the floor. I rarely hear complaints about basketball ticket prices, and most every game is either sold out or nearly so.

Sure, they may be a little pricey now, but people are still voting yes with their pocketbooks. As my old econ professor would preach "You've gotta boil the water slowly, or the frog is just going to leap right out of the pot."

I strongly considered moving to cheaper seats. Of course I'm paying a lot more now for my seats. But I'm still not sitting in the row 10, center court, seats I had at the Sports Arena.
