Ironically, "name and likeness" are gonna take a big hit now as no one is going to buy anyone's jersey, t-shirt, etc. with the threat of them leaving ASAP for $$$.

All these guys transferring can go F themselves. I hope they don’t think they can come back to SDSU. I know the simps will welcome them back but they should feel real uncomfortable with they think about coming back to San Diego. Are you going to tantrum about every player who leaves? Because that's a whole lotta whining you're gonna be doing the next few years.

Call it whatever way you want to, but don't be disappointed when players leave and you need to open your wallet to buy their replacement who is not "soft". No pro player takes trash from fans in the seats, and if it's enough, the player can have the fan removed from the venue. Now the college players get their turn. Dutcher recruits players to this program for a motto, an idea, and a way of life. Aztec For Life. Family. Healthy families don't talk $h1t about one of their own struggling.
The point is online opinions have an affect on this program.
I am indifferent about NIL, I just hope everyone who has been banging on the drum is prepared for the logical next steps. I wish Butler, Saunders, and Parrish the best. But criticism and sports go hand and glove. That criticism will intensify as they are now Semi-Pro athletes. State is going to need to find a way to navigate these new waters. Parish, Waters, and Saunders are leaving either for more money or more playing time. I would wager criticism is a factor but minor, JMO. FIFY

What a complete d*ck move to do this right before the portal closes. That is an absolute bush league move, Saunders. You had months to do this, and you waited until now. If you want to leave, so be it, but to do this now is a sign of terrible character.

This is funny Micah Parrish sounds off on Aztec fans and tells them to put up more money. I’m not mad at the players for leaving for $. The system sucks for mid-major teams. Our dream of becoming another Gonzaga in the west are done. I do find it funny that a college player is whining to fans to donate more money. It’s a crazy world. Not just a college player, but a college player that is going to get paid multiple times what most will make in a year (on top of a free ride and access to world class facilities and training). All while regular fans are paying the free ride and his academic counterparts go deep into debt with student loans. Makes me sick.

Keshad - Butler and Parrish left as it is their 5th and final season to make even Bigger Money
I think this might be the last of the Covid extra season so guys can get 5 years to play ( I do think a 5th year does help Mid Major Schools and mid level players )
So Saunders may have been watching the numbers and decided he would try for getting money for his last two years of college instead of one or as I may have suggested he may not have enjoyed the reserve role of observing the starters then coming in as a reserve - ( the P C thing to say ) . Have not actually heard what the coaches were saying as MG finished the season - but some dribbles coming out that MG had a decent outside shot and able to block some shots - that paired with Compton who many feel has a decent frame for a PF and that can rebound - might have given Elijah some things to ponder . Then toss in the NIL money
Interesting that some are saying or fearing that Bryd and Elijah were good friends and more worried that Bryd might leave more then hearing that Saunders was leaving
This is the new norm for College Sports and Coaches are having to realize that they have to re recruit the players on their team every year .
Covid gave players 5 years to play
Next season it goes back to 4 so buckle up as things get even crazier

There are a couple things that suggest that losing Saunders is more of an emotional and ego loss than a logistical one. 1) I think he was worried about getting a lot of playing time at the 4 with Gwath and Compton looming. 2) He averaged 3.6 rebounds in 20.3 minutes of every game. 3) He was "relieved" when he lost his starting job. Now this is coming from a Sophomore, not a Freshman. He would rather not start.
I really liked the kid but he was the epitome of SOFT!

Saunders seems like a good kid, someone who I was happy to have on the team. In purely basketball terms, his loss isn't that big a deal. It seems like the coaches recruited a kid with an NBA-ready physique who could bang inside. Instead, the kid wanted to play on the perimeter and shoot threes, and develop and display his outside game to eventually make the league. In short, he wasn't a good fit for the Aztecs program. Losing Byrd would hurt badly, if that comes to pass. I hate this crap, too, but we're going to have to figure out a way to prosper in this environment until common sense returns to college athletics. You described Saunders to a tee. If he had any sort of an inside game, or had more aggressiveness in him, he would be a huge loss. Maybe he will become that, but as of right now, unless we lose more people, I'm not "crushed" the he's transferring.

X Thames today, "What the HELL is going on?" I wish Kawhi would just write a big NIL check to MESA and continue our top-tier performance.

I found out about Saunders a half hour ago. This one is hard. I could deal with Lamont leaving because he gave us 4 years and is using the covid year, but Saunders leaving truly feels like a blow to the program. Wow. Just wow.

Is Waters about to hit the portal, as well?

I never thought I would see the day that starters transferred out.
I want kids playing for a NC, not a paycheck.

Some of these kids are going to tank playing for money. They have no idea what they signed up for. I can see a lot of these getting the big payday for 1 year, choke under the pressure and transfer again for far less cash and stress.
