All these guys transferring can go F themselves. I hope they don’t think they can come back to SDSU. I know the simps will welcome them back but they should feel real uncomfortable with they think about coming back to San Diego. Is your name Dick?

This is funny Micah Parrish sounds off on Aztec fans and tells them to put up more money. I’m not mad at the players for leaving for $. The system sucks for mid-major teams. Our dream of becoming another Gonzaga in the west are done. I do find it funny that a college player is whining to fans to donate more money. It’s a crazy world. This $#!+ is wild and so out of touch. In the beginning I thought NIL was just going to allow players to make money from advertising due to their regional or national branding opportunities. To see it quickly turn into a panhandle that the fans need fulfill is nonsense. I don't know how you can see this sentiment from Parrish and want to support this system more. Cool, you can hoop, but you're clearly not grateful for the money and adoration you received while at SDSU, just a means to an end. We can get the same entertainment at the pro-level without this headache.

I agree with Micah’s comment that those that are complaining should be donating. You get what you put in. But he’s wrong that these are college kids. They are semi pro athletes. You can’t have your cake and it eat it too. Agreed on what he's saying. But he's also saying if you're going to criticize he can go get a bigger cake somewhere else. If State was paying $600K, he would have brushed off the criticism and enjoyed his last season of college semi pro ball. He’s now just financially clear to gripe about the criticism and use it to obfuscate the real reason. He took the bag. I hold no grudges but I won’t close my eyes to the reality.

Well at least I'll probably have more emotional energy, time availability and discretionary income in my life as my Aztec obsession slowly fades into oblivion. Just think how freakin' close we were to getting into the PAC-12 and getting on the other side of all of this. I actually don't think getting into an intact PAC would have changed much. Top 20 programs across the country are dealing with this. You need an NIL program funded to about $5-8m+ per season to retain players at this point.

The semi-pro title doesn't implicate a person's mental maturity or age. All it defines is their skill level. These are kids. There are children actors and influencers as young as 7 making way more money than any NIL offer. If they're a part of the Screen Actors Guild, they're still kids. They're playing with an adult world, and there's too many that don't have financial counsel. Goes back to Shaq where his mind was at in his rookie year after getting drafted. Having a fish tank in your Mercedes speakers sounds like what my nephews were dreaming about when they were 17. Money and semi-pro titles can't redefine the mental maturity and age of these athletes. Science says the human brain reaches full development between mid to late 20s and the human brain just so happens to be the complicated thing in the universe. These are all kids.

Man, San Diego is as tame as it comes either online from fans, around town from fans, or the Journos. These players want the bag and the limelight, but not what comes with being semi-pro, criticism. If Saunders bolted because he was benched and took criticism, then his rebounding was not the softest part of his game. Call it whatever way you want to, but don't be disappointed when players leave and you need to open your wallet to buy their replacement who is not "soft". No pro player takes trash from fans in the seats, and if it's enough, the player can have the fan removed from the venue. Now the college players get their turn. Dutcher recruits players to this program for a motto, an idea, and a way of life. Aztec For Life. Family. Healthy families don't talk $h1t about one of their own struggling.
The point is online opinions have an affect on this program.
Really? Go check out the Kentucky message board. Butler hasn’t played a minute for them and they are already talking down to him hoping he isn’t a starter and wondering why Pope was focusing his time on him rather than better options.

Perhaps Gwath and Compton are just too good, and Saunders can't see future minutes. In a historical context, this situation reminds me of the panic of the 1920s, when everyone rushed to withdraw their money from banks. Similarly, players might be scrambling to secure their NIL $$ before opportunities vanish. This panic fuels a crash, leaving the smaller schools financially strained while the more Power 5s seize the advantage. Just as certain large corporations thrived during the Great Depression, the SEC, Big 10, and Big 12 will emerge unscathed and better off amidst the turmoil. Time to close the doors, its going to be a long 48 hours.

Professional sports do not come with this pretense. College football and basketball worked because of it. Without the notion that you share anything beyond their entertainment value, the men’s basketball team at SDSU is the San Diego Gulls in a warmer arena.

When was the last time Kentucky went to the Final 4? Just because they're Kentucky doesn't make them the blue-print of how to treat your players. You're trying to say that because Kentucky criticizes their players, it justifies Aztec fans should too. Well guess what, Kentucky has an endowment that SDSU doesn't. They can afford to talk whatever they want about players, have that player leave, and afford to bring in an equal or better replacement. We're not Kentucky. San Diego State doesn't have those resources to offset negativity coming from supporters of a program. The point being if you can afford to disrespect a player at San Diego State, speak your mind, but don't think your words are irrelevant in the recruiting and sustaining of athletes for a program. Stop disrespecting the players that commit here or get a bigger wallet. There is a difference between being constructively critical and being outright disrespectful as a supporter of a player or sports program. Disrespect online or offline typically receives a fist in the face in the streets, and a lot of players come from the streets. You don't have to appreciate a player's decision to leave or the way they played a game any given night, but being a hater and disrespecting kids is not far from being an anonymous bully, if not defining it.

Oh I get it if you lament that a player isn't playing hard on defense or crashing the boards you better donate $100k to NIL. Thanks for the tutorial. By the way, you can check my posts. I never trash the players or boo. I don't think it helps but I certainly don't think discussion on a message board is a reason to go all kumbaya on a message board either.

Elijah might as well be 6'2"... he plays incredibly SOFT. Ya, that's my biggest gripe of his game. I can take him being a stretch power forward who shoots the mid and three, but he averaged 2.8 rebounds. 6'8 225 should be averaging way more boards than 2.8. He did better last year with 3.6 reb/game but was still out rebounded by Waters and Parish. Wherever he lands, he needs to get tougher and remember that "board man get paid." Honestly, I liked the idea of him playing at the 3 some of the time behind Byrd - he has the 3 point shooting ability to be a 3. Bad timing by Saunders. Not a fan of the timing of all of this.

Time to close the doors, its going to be a long 48 hours. I thought the same thing about Saunders maybe worrying about playing time at the 4 with Gwath and Compton coming in, and then Zeigler brought it up too. He averaged 20.3 minutes a game and got 3.6 rebounds a game. That's not a true 4. To continue the narrative timeline with your metaphor: after the run on the banks, the country (college FB +BB) go into a long depression and everyone loses a lot of money and power. 5-6 years later, significant changes need to be made to re-invent everything. The SECs and BIG10s of the world will squeeze out the overwhelming majority of D1 FB and BB teams and form super leagues. What they won't realize until it's too late is that the general public's appetite for Minor League versions of the NFL and NBA with little or no local and personal connections will wane and TV and streaming contracts will plummet as less and less eyes pay to view the product. They'll also kill the biggest Gold Goose of all, March Madness, by eventually eliminating all the little guys that make MM what it is today. This next Aztec season and the few months following it will tell us whether we can continue to compete or are we just tilting at windmills. How will Dutcher and Aztec fans react to all of this over the next 12-14 months?
