I’ve already moved on. Was there ever a time when you felt Saunders, Butler, or Parrish was the best or even one of the better players on the court? LeDee yes. These guys no. It doesn’t matter what the reason is that they don’t want to be here. Go where you want, if it’s for the $, I don’t blame you it’s what the system has become. I would like to see schools immediately revoke scholarships once you enter the portal to prevent people from shopping around and then “grace” their original teams with their presence if there are lousy offers As previous post I’m looking forward to the core players we have and that are coming in, both freshman, redshirts, transfers. It really looks like addition by subtraction. Byrd, Waters Heide BJ Gwath Compton Boyd JCJ and all the others I did not mention Go Aztecs Ehhhh, yes. AT TIMES, Butler could "turn it on" during a game and absolutely dominate a 3-5 mins stretch of time. I recall plenty of games where we seemed to be playing down to the level of another team and either be down or the game being a lot closer than it should have been... lots of Aztecs seeming to play lethargic, etc... and all of a sudden Butler would seem to get pissed or something and he'd run a sequence like: Steal --> fastbreak layup; defensive rebound --> drive & dish for an open 3 by someone; maybe another steal --> 3 pt in transition... opponent timeout. BUT, it was the inconsistency that was so frustrating, and that the team had to be really underperforming before Butler would turn it on like that with ~10 mins left in the 2nd half. But... yes, in those flashes, 100% Butler was the best player on the court and dominated those stretches of basketball. |

Same scource. This is coming from the same scource that say Washington was guarantee to come here 2 years ago. You can look it up. Super embarrassing for the great insider sdcoug. Look, I am not going to say anything to disparage Elijah. Thanks for your time on the Mesa! But, facts are facts. He lost his confidence here as a starter. Said it himself. All of sudden when he's coming off the bench, he starts playing better. Somewhat strange. Lack of confidence in himself. Maybe he was experiencing a little bit of "imposter syndrome" as a starter. Anyway, for me, the unknown would have been what we could have expected of him next year as a probable starter. These days it is easy come, easy go. Gotta get used to it unless/until the NIL/transfer portal becomes something different than what it is today. So, rather than lament the loss of Lamont, Micah, and Elijah (easy go), let's celebrate Coleman-Jones and Boyd (easy come), and those that are committed to next year's team...Heide, Byrd, Waters, and the rest of the squad. Exactly, this is the "new now" and things will be chaotic initially but then will simmer down some as players start realizing that the grass isn't always greener in a new program, nor will they get what they think they are promised. I will wish Butler, Parrish and Saunders the best in their future endeavors and hope the decisions they made work out for them. We've added three good ones in Jones, Boyd and McKinney so the fans from their previous schools are feeling a lot like we are. Boyd looks to be an improvement over Trammel defensively and likely on par at least with him offensively from the outside. Likely an improvement in the lane. McKinney looks to be quite similar to Butler with a better FT%. Jones is not an upgrade over LeDee, but I do hope that he and "Goon" will pair well together with an improved Heide. If I had my way, I'd concede some decent minutes to Compton and bring in a shooter for the 3 position. I'm thinking Byrd can play both the 2 and the 3. It's stupid to get upset with the kids. It isn't like they are giving guns to friends so they can kill someone or doing things that put SDSU in a bad light. They are making decisions based on what they think is best for them. Yes, it hurts and many on here are in the first 4 steps of the 7 steps of grief recovery. What's stupid is not understanding the very reasonable fan reaction of being unhappy, disappointed, or worried (the definition of "upset") after being sandbagged two days before the portal closed. Allow fans to vent; after all they've paid good $$$ for season tix, NIL donations, roadies, etc. and blowing off stream on a chat board shouldn't be hurting anyone. |

This one hurts, but it is what it is and will only become more common in the out of control, no rules NIL era.
Basically it is all coming down to money and players are trying to make as much as they can which I do not begudge them, but it is a sad time in general for college football and basketball.

After 28 years of seasons tickets, I wonder whether this whole clusterf*ck of a system is worth it any more. I'm actually more sad than mad. What is frustrating to me is the NCAA had many years when they could have been forward thinking and got a system in place that made sense as far as Division I football and basketball players getting paid. Instead, they were so greedy and busy lining their own pockets that a golden opportunity passed unused. Now it is simply the Wild West where the rich schools will buy up all the best players, the rosters will go huge turnover every season and conferences that have been around for 100 Years (Pac 12) will no longer exist. So while I am "happy" for the players, it is destroying college athletics in my opinion and honestly I have no interest in donating big money to try and entice players to play here....that isn't what it should all be about. |

No surprise there was only 2-3 post ups in that highlight. He's either going to be a team's elite stretch 4, or frustrate a lot of people not getting easy buckets downlow. Really depends where he ends up.

Really depends where he ends up. His 3-pt shot looks so smooth, like his FTs. But he shot poorly in the last 6 games of the year when it counted. And if you add in how "stressed out" he was when he felt extra pressure when he started, I wonder what he'll be like next year with the considerably increased pressure to perform after taking a 6-figure NIL deal. He better get his head straight. |
