would guess that not all NIL deals are guaranteed and possibly verified with the IRS

Parrish ended up at $200k. Butler is a better get but more than $400k would be surprising to me. He made $200k here last year and with increased MESA funding maybe that would jump to $250-300k? I thought Parrish got 400k?Reports are that after payments/fees (to an agent?), taxes, etc., it ended up being closer to $200k.

Would be great for our reputation... "SDSU guard transfers to Duke to replace 5-star Jeremy Roach"! What would be better for our reputation is Butler sticking around and leading this group to his third consecutive sweet 16! its second Final Four. Fixed.

I thought Parrish got 400k? Yes but in a Zeigler article from 2 days ago it said a source said that a guy who committed to a power school last week thinking he was getting $400k learned it would actually be $200k after he committed. Reading between the lines it sounds a lot like he was referring to Ohio St. Zeigler had a source for this story, the commitment timeline matches up and the reported NIL figure matches up. All sign point to that being Parrish.

I hope Nick Boyd hit a buzzer beater in Lamont's face in the Final Four đ

How do you feel about Trevor Hoffman, then? Hoffman did not start with the Pads, did not finish with the Pads, and no one would refer to him as Mr Padre. He is a good player but he is not loved like Gwynn. How about Steve Garvey ? Ozzie Smith ? Dave Winfield ?âš

Do you look down on him because he didnât finish with the chargers? Philip rivers? Johnny Unitas finished with the chargers, does that make him less of a Colt? Some times business decisions take you away from the place you love. Seau and rivers are SanDiegoChargers4Life just like Lamont and Keshad are Aztec4Life

That's reserved for the very special players like him and Ripken. As for Seau and Rivers, I harbor zero ill will towards anyone that choses to no longer play for the Spanos family.

not sure what the naming of Professional Ball players that played in San Diego needs to be brought up
Sure seems that the owner of a franchise has the budget in their thoughts and that SD has suffered quite often do to poor ownership
not sure who runs the NIL situation for a School
Keshad played 4 years at SDSU and then was looking for a decent team that also has a good amount of NIL money ( he was also able to parlay the Covid year for his advantage )
Parrish did the same
Now so is Butler
-
Think the extra Covid Season maybe coming close to and end this year
So maybe let it go and move on
Would guess that Dutcher has his focus on possibly adding either another player depending on if there is a high quality addition that the staff may think they need
Also new Assistant Coach and OOC - not looking back at Butler or Parrish ( not sure if Waters has made an official announcement of his plans are for the 2024-25 season
By the way the MW website rates UNLV and SDSU as having the best Freshman Class coming into the MW this year

Ozzie Smith ? Dave Winfield ?âš None are loved like Gwynn. Garvey may not even be that loved in spite of 1984 heroics. Jones arguably was as loved as Gwynn in his playing days with the pads (something like 2x attendance when he pitched) but not as distinguished a career and not spent entirely with the Pads. So in the end, not close. One team Players like Gwynn, jeter, Rivera, etc are getting rare. There is a reason Gwynn is referred to as Mr padre.

I was there for Garvey's homer. One of the top ten sports moments in SD history. Gwynn was special and his family ended up not doing well financially after he died. But it will be rare for someone to play for a pro team all their career. Looks like we will be able to say the same for collegiate sports. Like Seinfeld said, we are rooting for a uniform.
