If he goes to play for that ass up the road then I will lose some respect for him: We likely will never know the full offers or even how much he makes transferring and I have no clue what each schools NIL situation aside from assuming the blue bloods + a few other schools can offer more than what he made last year. Then what schools can actually offer him a good fit and the possibility of showcasing what he needs to play at the next level? Likely it'll work out but I'm interested to see how this plays out.

All this continued talk about next years team and never once has anybody talked about the one glaring issue, Why not get replace DJ's scholarship with someone that actually has a chance of adding some production to this team. The 3 year test has run its course and has proven a non-factor time to replace. This is embarrassing. There are some trashy coaches and trashy programs out there, but not Coach Dutcher and SDSU. I’m pretty sure that Dutch is a decent human being that’s above doing something sleazy like that. We once had a psoter on here who wanted to yank Seiko's and Narain's scholarships, Seiko after his freshman year.

Yet, the media and others that follow SDSU basketball all say the same thing about Demarshay. So the coaches know more is tiring and weak argument. Because, I can always go back and bring up, Horton as the OC. Or better yet Hecklinski. When I heard the coaches know more than you. Well I'd say you have two different quality of coaching staffs you are comparing. To call them somehow equivalent is even a more tired and weak argument. But you are the expert so I'll defer to you. Not a expert just have common sense. Demarshay got passed by Saunders as a true freshman. I don’t want to here nonsense spin. Demarshay could have been the center and AG and LeDee could be the 4. After the season SDSU was desperately trying to get a center transfer.it a fact Even though sdcoug is double down on his lies. Every single coach did interviews after the NC and portal, zero mention on Demarshay. Zero! Then after the portal is over. Then they actually slightly mentioned him. This year got passed again by a true freshman in Heide. Only played because he was a body to relieve LeDee and Heide. Now this off-season. SDSU got JCJ and Heide is the backup. Again interviews for coaches and players. For the second time zero mention of Demarshay. Now you can read the he tea leaves and facts. Or you can do the the coaches know more than you speech, over and over again, when you can’t provide any options with facts to your point. Lol!

If he goes to play for that ass up the road then I will lose some respect for him: Absolutely agree, especially after what musselASS did to KJ's family immediately following the loss in Maui that was LB's fault. Anywhere else I'm fine with, but I'd lose all respect for him and his family if he went to U$C.

Think Zeigler has already mentioned that If Dutcher feels that SDSU needs to use Shay Johnson's scholarship then they will suggest that he enter the Portal
Also have the trust in Dutcher that he knows how many scholarships he wants to use or that if Shay stays - Shay realizes that he may only get the PT in lop sided games
Not that easy balancing having more then 11 active players that expect PT . So a coach might need to have guys red shirt or have players similar to Shay on the roster as a safety valve
Dutcher has said that he could very likely try to add another Guard be it SG or PG depending on where Boyd is projected to play
So if you also feel that Dutcher have Shay enter the Portal by April 30 or is it May 1 - be it at what position would you add other then the replacement scholarship for Butler
-
Bryd - Saunders- Waters - MG - Davis - Heide - one of the 3 new freshmen - - if you add another player might someone say it is an over load and they might leave
so Dutcher might want players willing to red shirt or be guys there as a Safety valve for injuries but not require PT - or maybe a quality HS guy that is injured and needs to rehab next season
There is no one saying Shay is going to be as good as JCJ or Heide or MG if he also plays the 5 but injuries can happen
Just saying balancing 13 guys is not easy

Byrd, Boyd, Waters, Saunders, and JCJ will be the starting 5.

With Butler leaving, I would love to see them get a dynamic offensive minded guard to pair with Boyd.

Byrd, Boyd, Waters, Saunders, and JCJ will be the starting 5. I expect Compton to start after the first few games, possibly for Saunders who likes coming off the bench.

I question if Compton will be that much of a contributor as a true frosh. It even took Kawhi his 2nd year to really show his talent. I could see Comptom making the same trajectory based on his talent, not Kawhi's. JMO

Saunders did seem to play better off the bench this past season, but I don't think that necessarily means 'he likes coming off the bench'. Also, there Gwath as another guy at the 4 who has a year in the program, albeit redshirting. We all have high expectations for Compton, but beating out those 2 guys as a true frosh will be pretty tough.

Compton just seems ready to go day 1 (from videos), an even rotation of Saunders, Gwath, and Compton means they all hopefully meet or exceed expectations, this bodes very well for next season.

As I remember, it was reported that he said something like he was more comfortable coming off the bench. He did seem to play better after Dutcher changed from starting him to having him come off the bench early in the game.

could be an interesting battle for PT with the 3 of them all having different skill sets
would say that SDSU has almost their whole team being guys who might not have performed as well as they could have last year
in addition transfers - how well do they mix in to Aztec styles of play as well as the HS guys and the Red Shirt MG
SDSU will have all new starters - so a wide battle among the guys for PT ( if Saunders was considered more of a reserve then a starter
In addition will Dutcher add an additional player into the mix ?

Boyd Byrd Waters Compton / Gwath JCJ
We can't afford to lose any more to the portal... our depth is really thinning out!

Saunders is gone.
I wouldn't be surprised if the entire Team transferred out.
SDSU simply doesn't have the NIL cache to keep quality players around.

When did the portal close today? I thought it was by end of day but definitely could be wrong.

I don't want to stop caring, but it's getting tougher and tougher.
