Don't forget to pencil in Jared Coleman-Jones into that probable starting line-up. Going up against him in practice should help advance Heide's offense.

Have you seen this guy play? Have you seen him at the free-throw line (it should embarrass his high school freshman coach!) this is not what should be allowed on a D1 college basketball court, let alone a top 25 type program. Time for someone to step in and find him some playing time at a lower level program where his size could be used much better. |

The FAMILY aspect is great but look at what just happened, someone just walked away last minute with what appears to be poor timing and some rather unflattering words from a family member. Things have changed and not all for the better in the last couple years. This has now become a year to year sport and every scholarship counts and next year is a completely new year, welcome to the new college sports league. |

Because parents still impact their son's college choice and they'll see a coach who can potentially do that to their son |

would guess that Dutcher thinks he can handle a rotation of about 10 players and try to keep them happy / stay at SDSU
so sometimes a team needs some players that could be used in a pinch but not require a lot of PT - Shay could provide a safety valve if the coaches ask a BIG to red shirt -possibly the new 7 FT HS player coming into the program - might be that guy
Yes Dutcher has an additional scholarship to use and even another if Shay wants to enter the Portal for his benefit - would also remember his mother sees both the athlete and scholarship as quite important for Shay
Last date to enter the Portal is April 30 or May 1 - but a player can sign at any date just so long as they get registered for their new school

Well I'd say you have two different quality of coaching staffs you are comparing. To call them somehow equivalent is even a more tired and weak argument. But you are the expert so I'll defer to you. |

Yes a coach has to be able to get the best players he can get and use the 13 scholarships available BUT managing 13 players is not as easy as some may think and sometimes with the 11 -13 are guys that are willing to red shirt or realize that the PT that the top 10 guys get . So you might keep one or two players that will red shirt or be there on the bench just in case of injuries . Think there were a couple of MW teams that got hit with injuries and only had 7 or 8 players ready to play .
So yes a coach tries to get the best players they can get and use their 13 scholarships but with the last couple there might be some variances

I’m pretty sure that Dutch is a decent human being that’s above doing something sleazy like that. |
