Sounds like Trump won this round...you can put a ham sandwich on the ballot. This was likely going to be the outcome with the court stacked as it is. But the immunity ruling is upcoming and that matters a whole lot more.

But the immunity ruling is upcoming and that matters a whole lot more. Let's face it...Trump has to be found guilty of a felony that bars/disqualifies him for eligibility to hold office...if he can drag it out...which he is quite experienced in doing...then he might be elected president before any ruling can come down.

It's been three years since the Jan 6th insurrection...many motions/proceedings...he's still running...still on the ballot...still the frontrunner...leading in some polls...that's the bird in the hand....

Oral arguments this morning are not going well for the Colorado petitioners. The conservatives on the Supreme Court, as largely expected by the legal community everyone, does not want to open this box and create legal precedent. will once again put party before country. FIFY

What don't you agree with? Your entire correction. But it's mostly because the lawyers for the Colorado side were woefully weak and didn't address the crux of the argument - BUT....there was an interesting exchange between Kavanaugh and the Colorado side where it seemed like a given if Trump was actually *charged* under 2383 that it would be an automatic DQ.

I with johnaztec on this one...let Trump on the ballot...let's see who/what America is or is not...it seems like a lot of folks on the left don't want to...afraid the country's narrative will be exposed as a lie...that we will indeed hire a crook/traitor/racist dictator to lead this nation...so instead of putting the theory to a test...they want to preempt it by court...and that will lead to doubts/trouble...therefore...have a fair election...let Trump lose/win according to the will of the people.

Most sensible people want Trump off the ballot because he's a criminal that incited insurrection against the United States, disrupting the transfer of power.

Well...show me the jury/judge trial conviction that said he did it...if not...it's mere speculation...what I'm saying is if it is so clear that he is all those things...why wait to the last second to put him on trial?...should've occurred no later than a year after Jan 6th...so all the delay/pondering left the door open to where we are today...so if they didn't do ish for three years...it's too late now...let America decide...if Biden can't outrun Trump carrying all his baggage...if he can't make a simple wide-open layup...the country deserves what we get....

It's not, though. And a criminal charge and a conviction isn't a requirement for removal, which is why we're here today. If you're wondering why he wasn't charged with 2383, the answer is simple. Jack Smith and the AG want to narrowly define the merits and avoid the casual appearance of a politically-based prosecution. Setting a historical precedent is a big, big deal. You don't get to close that box after it's opened, so you have to be extremely prudent with any legal case you build. Smith chose to put forth a simple case that will obtain a guilty verdict in DC, provided it gets there in a timely manner. Why wait until the last second? Nobody did that. The investigation started with Jack Smith's appointment in early November of 2022. Investigations take time. Hundreds of witnesses. Thousands of hours of interviews, testimony, surveillance, etc. Trump is still entitled to due process and his delay tactics and appeals are part of our legal system, unfortunate as that may be. Trump was indicted in the DC case August 1st, 2023. There was no way on Earth a trial was going to take place in 2022. You would have seen the same exact set of circumstances. Appeals, motions to delay, motions to change jurisdiction and the idea of presidential immunity still hasn't been adjudicated *today,* much less two years ago. Wouldn't have changed a thing.

Yep, let America decide. I would think a lot of people would love to see him get humbled again, unless you're afraid he may actually win.

So, I wonder if there really is anything that would knock this guy out? Maybe he really could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and get away with it? When he said it, I knew he wasn't joking...at least for his supporters and the "poorly educated". I remember people talking about Teflon..in regards to Regan. Man...trump is way beyond Teflon. He's done a 100 things that would've killed anybody else. I guess America really is that stoopid. I had high hopes for society until about 8 years ago. Yes, there was Reverend Ike, Jerry Springer, Rush Limbaugh etc... but I always thought those audiences were a small slice of American society. I was wrong.... the devolution is in full force ..im afraid.

Yep, let America decide. I would think a lot of people would love to see him get humbled again, unless you're afraid he may actually win. Nobody is afraid of anything except maintaining our democracy. Democracy is the will of the people...all the people (Black, Hispanic, Asian, Muslim, etc)...when has America ever been about that?...modern day...it's just pretense...we go through the motions/window dressing of inclusiveness...it's because in the past and today whites are the majority...fighting amongst themselves...in the end...whites win...but now the white population is dropping...minority-majority by 2040...somebody other than white is gaining the benefits of power...that doesn't sit well with a lot of whites...who feel as minorities gain...especially Blacks...white lose...Republicans are blatant about this belief...the majority of this nation's whites vote for the party...they are not being duped into choosing between democracy and a white-supremacy dictatorship...they know tomorrow is not their friend...therefore today...they have to seize the system before it's too late...to preserve whiteness...err America...they do not want to maintain a minority-led democracy...so, if all I've typed is bs...let's put it to a test...let Trump run and let America choose between white supremacy and democracy...then go from there...a lot of folks are scared to find out the results.....
