I hope people in here do not have unrealistic expectations for next year. Next year is about showing a foundation of building in the right direction, but we may very well have a losing record. The record will not determine whether lewis is a bad coach. This kind of turnover and lack of cohesion will be seen on the field.

In 2023, Colorado improved by two wins with a 4-8 record. Then, SDSU can finish the 2024 season at least 6-6 and be bowl eligible.

This is what most everyone wanted, Hoke to be fired. Now we have the oposite of Hoke, which everyone wanted. Stop the whining about players transferring out. It’s part of the rebuild and the way college football works now. The fans got what they wanted. Enjoy the ride.

Yep, was saying that even before Lewis was hired. He gets a 5 year contract. I don't expect a winning season until season 3 but hopeful we see one in the second year. It isn't just what we see this recruiting year, Lewis has to change the image recruits have of SDSU. I have said that 5 wins next year would be a good year. Could he do better? Sure. The way his contract is written, he is here for 3 seasons at the least. Even the final two years someone has to pay SDSU $2M to hire him away. To be honest, I think JD got a deal with him, both in what he is getting paid (if we get into a better conference that does go up) plus what it takes to sign him away.
I like the hire. I'm not a huge FB fan but I follow SDSU. I normally don't pay attention to FB recruiting and such but I am doing so now. I do think he brings an energy to the program that has been missed. Missed even when Rocky was here.

Wasn't UNLV rebuilt in 2 years?
This is NOT a dire situation like the Timmy Chang rebuild where they're trending for a possible bowl bid in year 3.
So the 2nd year the Aztecs should compete for the conference title

The infectious energy radiating from Coach Lewis and his youth, is going to improve recruiting significantly as well as play. AND I believe strongly that we'll have a very good year, winning season certainly.
This is not a rebuild from a moribund program. It's revamping the miserable coaching and improving the talent already sitting on the bench.

I do have to say, however, half of the MWC HC jobs are changing this year. Might not be that bad for SDSU when it comes to conference next year. One would expect the conference to be down given this amount of transition:
