Same can be said of SDSU. Why join the PAC2,3 or 4? We certainly don't pay to do so. The PAC2.3.4 is worse than the MWC right now. SDSU would be the best overall program immediately. ****((((****(( Best overall?? Stanford wins the Sears Cup on a regular basis. They and Cal have dozens of national championships. We have One!! Stanford thus far is having a very good recruiting year in football. No telling what this mess is going to do to any of us though. You are way overrating sdsu.

I just hope this thing gets resolved sooner than later. Another two months of fiddle farting around is not acceptable. Time for leaders to be leaders.

Unfortunately there's probably nothing our leaders can do about all of this expansion situation. Truly an example of the "Golden Rule." He who has the gold makes the rules. In this case it was the TV networks who have the gold and made the rules.

SDSU never had an official offer to join any conference so it has been at the mercy of the PAC whatever and what might be .
Same for the Big 12

PAC: "Hey SMU are you interested in the new PAC?" SMU: "Tell us about the Media Plan?" PAC: "Kliavkoff is working on it." SMU: "That's a hard pass for us but thanks anyway." Part deux; SDSU: "Tell us about the Media Plan?" PAC: "Kliavkoff is working on it." SDSU: "That's a hard pass for us but thanks anyway." Don't get this mindset. The P12 deal was better than the B12s, at least in the minds of Arizona, ASU & Utah, along with the others. Had Fox not decided to dictate their terms to the B10 last minute the P12 would have survived. The 3 year opt out option was also a very good decision. The big issue was Apple played hardball a little too long, maybe a week to 10 days, and George couldn't force them to come more towards their best offer until Apple saw it was absolutely necessary. Given the B10 conference was saying they weren't going to poach, but Fox forced their hands, it was hard seeing that coming. I'm hoping Apple comes back to the table with, obviously, a lesser version of what there were offering given a newly constituted P12 conference. I want ESPN completely shut out of the Pacific time zone (post time change), unless willing to pay Apple for a piece. Stanford will need to be the ones driving this. They have the most clout.

Same for the Big 12 But I would think they were given some sort of assurance by the PAC that they would be in, otherwise I can't imagine De La Torre would have fired off her letter to Nevarez. Of course, we all saw how that turned out.

Unfortunately there's probably nothing our leaders can do about all of this expansion situation. Truly an example of the "Golden Rule." He who has the gold makes the rules. In this case it was the TV networks who have the gold and made the rules. More than anything, I basically just showed how frustrated I am with many different parties. I guess I was directing my frustration at the PAC leadership, or lack thereof, more than anyone else. There is a solution. There is ALWAYS (well, almost always) a solution. It just takes the right parties to come up with it. I am confronted daily with business decisions. I manage an office of 27 people. I am in a corporate environment and all of the logistical gymnastics that come with that. Sometimes you have to have proper foresight and make tough and unpopular decisions in solving a problem. Watching this thing play out as an outsider, I could never have imagined that the PAC would go from 12 to 10, to 4 in a matter of weeks, maybe days. But, as a an insider, Kliavikoff should have seen what was coming. I was fooled into thinking that this guy knew what he was doing. That is the fiddle farting I referred to. I know that SDSU leadership could only do so much.

Reality check: Without USC, UCLA, Washington, Oregon and Utah this will be a very mediocre conference. Sorry to break this to you guys, but this “new PAC” will just be the Mountain West plus.

To some extent, eventually Oregon St & Washington St will get drug down to MW levels in talent, budgets and financial payouts, as well as be relegated to the same mediocre who cares Bowl games.

I cut New Mexico if we're cutting teams. OUT New Mexico Hawaii Maybe Out Wyoming San Jose State If teams are going to be cut it needs to start with travel. USU, Wyo, and AF needs to go. The only saving grace for AF is academics and service academy. For that I would keep them and cut SJSU.

Reality checking your reality check: If SDSU can somehow join the same conference as Stanford, Cal, Washington State and Oregon State, it would be a significant upgrade for SDSU… even with other MWC schools rounding out the new conference.

Agreed. No matter how you look at it, the new pac is still way better than current MWC and worth 2-3x the money per year. Is it what we all want? No. But still better.

would not want to be recruiting for the Forgotten 4 of the PAC
Agree still hope the PAC conference stays and schools get added so there is a PAC or at least maybe a PAC as West Division with ACC or even AAC - shedding as many Mountain schools

We need the MWC or new conference to have as much credibility as possible, so we need to go with the schools with the strongest Football and Basketball programs.

I doubt Stanford would be caught dead in a conference with us. Their kind of arrogance isn’t going away.

Rumor on the street is that Stanford is offering up to the ACC CAL and Stanford at 1/2 shares for the balance of their contract. ACC distributes $40M per annum. $30M TV and $10M NCAA other. It likely happens, my new general rule of thumb is that if helps the Aztecs it won't happen and if it hurts the Aztecs it will happen.
