The UC Davis talk is crazy town. They are a great cultural fit, they are the only other UC with a football team, and they have a big alumni base. You guys are saying that Fresno has no chance because it's a Cal State school. For the exact same reason, UC Davis has a chance because it's a UC school. Stanford and CAL care a lot about academics - that's not just window dressing for them. UC Davis makes a lot more sense then a school like Tulane which is in the South. Last time I checked the conference has Pacific in it's name... Perhaps if Stanford leaves you might consider another program in the same region, but I don't see three up there.

If you live in Northern California The Bay area is viewed differently than the Sacramento Region ( which Davis is about 15 minutes from).

I/m sure it's one of the concerns they have for Fresno outside of the academic concerns.

Bottom line - what schools bring in Viewers that TV / Media want so they can sell ads - need a decent TV One other want should be an airports nearby with direct flights and staying away from schools with terrible altitude Think Texas schools help for Viewers and recruiting Let's also be real The 4 gotten 4 of the PAC have the PAC rights so they have the leverage as to who they want and possibly some money in the PAC treasury bank For calford it’s about academic standing first and foremost. Tulane and rice gets in on that. Over Boise and Fresno Which is exactly why the “new” PAC will fail. If all the teams suck in football and keep getting beat, then you can kiss A5 status goodbye. Rice has been one of the worst D1 schools for that past 40 years, even when the were ina P5 metric conference (the SWC). Taking them over a schools that can win some football games, e.g. Fresno St or BSU, would basically be a slow suicide.

I agree, but our only path to big 12 is for pac to survive and big 12 to invite us. Otherwise ESPN’s pst will be filled with some or of the pac 4 in acc or big 12.

The Pac will NEVER invite Boise. Their academics suck.

Stanford is the decider in all this now. Time to choose between academics and quality football. They have to face the fact they can no longer have both.

Looks like they are only interested in SDSU from the MWC. www.sfchronicle.com/sports/college/article/cal-stanford-lead-effort-salvage-pac-12-time-18289662.phpThe onus is on the four remaining Pac-12 schools to ensure that expansion targets meet certain standards in terms of brand recognition and academics. Though speculation has amplified this week that the quartet could try adding four or five Mountain West teams, a league source told The Chronicle that San Diego State is the only Mountain West school that would likely receive an invite.

Stanford needs to wake up and smell the coffee. The TV gods have spoken and: Big ten-Rejected Big12-Rejected ACC-Rejected Academic reputation-Nobody cares R1 Status- Nobody cares Olympic sports-Nobody cares Why would SDSU or Boise pay 34 mil exit fees to join pac4 that will pay at the most 10 million a year?

They wouldn't. However, if the PAC chose to use some of their war chest to pay most of those fees then it would be workable.

I have seen nothing that gets me excited about the PAC whatever. No good news, no sizzle. Just teams still trying to escape.

Can the 4 gotten 4 even agree among its 4 schools what they want to do - Is a good idea to hire Luck Sr. If they give him some power to get things done

There is only an outside chance we get in. Stanford's president is stepping down, Cal's chancellor will also be leaving in a couple of months. Let's hope their hubris leaves with them.

At this point the PAC4 should go to the media companies and ask them which teams they can add that will give them the best contract, whatever that is and invite them based on that information. Each team they want to invite will need to know how much they will get before any team will accept an invitation. But I think they are still trying to figure out how to all go to other conferences and still keep their money.

This Luck guy is actually competent. He will get it done. Ideally we will have a choice to make at some point…
