The aren't going to add Fresno. There is no need. They have No Cal covered. Also good luck with adding a second Cal State school. The new PAC will need to add schools that win football games and have fan support. Fresno meets those requirements and also locks up California. They should be in. Stanford and Cal aren’t adding Fresno.

Bottom line - what schools bring in Viewers that TV / Media want so they can sell ads - need a decent TV
One other want should be an airports nearby with direct flights and staying away from schools with terrible altitude
Think Texas schools help for Viewers and recruiting
Let's also be real The 4 gotten 4 of the PAC have the PAC rights so they have the leverage as to who they want and possibly some money in the PAC treasury bank

Cal and Stanford won't bring in Fresno. I would go for Option 2 with swapping out UNLV for Fresno. What makes you think they'll even take US? I don't know how OSU and WSU feel about us, but CalFord has always looked down on ALL CSU schools. They could care less about our media market. That kind of talk is what got us in this mess in the first place. So I just say, seeing is believing.

If it was SDSU would be in a power conference. I don't hate the idea of Fresno but there is no chance Cal and Stanford go for it. You can pretty easily swap Fresno State for Colorado State and call it a day. You can learn from history or repeat it. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Stanford and Cal have learned absolutely nothing in this process.

That said I don't see a huge discrepancy between Fresno State and Colorado State. FSU has more passionate fans and a better football program. CSU has a new football stadium, a different market, and spends quite a bit more on their athletic programs.

A rebuilding PAC *not* taking Colorado State would be stupid. Of course, I know that doesn't mean anything considering who we are talking about.

Any PAC-X expansion would start with the PAC-10's expansion candidates, then adjust for the current priorities and needs. I shall remind folks, PAC-10 was exploring 4 candidates, per most new outlets, and they are as follows: - SDSU
- SMU
- Colorado State
- Unnamed school - I bet it was Tulane or Rice

If the remaining 4 PAC schools want to successfully rebuild, they will need the proverbial paradigm shift. Academics will have to take a back seat to on field performance. They also need to stay compact to keep travel costs down. PAC 4 + SDSU Fresno Boise UNLV Another interesting option might be Hawaii. I know, it’s not compact travel, but they pay travel subsidies in all sports. They also don’t expect a cut of the media deal as long as they get to keep and sell their rights on the islands. If they were in UNLV’s slot, would it offer as much product split between only 7 schools? I don’t know enough about their current deals with the MW and BW to determine if this could be a smart financial move. The aren't going to add Fresno. There is no need. They have No Cal covered. Also good luck with adding a second Cal State school. If I had a Penny for EVERY time I heard it posted that BYU would NEVER let Utah in the BIG12 (as if BYU had Any say in the matter). That BYU already has the SLC market covered (45 miles apart), the BIG WON'T add U of U, look what happened. Fresno has more loyal and dedicated fans than CAL & Stanford combined. The east bay may have more eye balls, but they aren't watching the Bears & Trees pathetic sport teams. CAL & Stanford won't dare come down from their Ivory Towers and drop their P5 status to come to the MWC.

Now I love UC Davis but this is a stretch, unless they are ready to drop 300 million on facilities. The UC Davis talk is crazy town. They are a great cultural fit, they are the only other UC with a football team, and they have a big alumni base. You guys are saying that Fresno has no chance because it's a Cal State school. For the exact same reason, UC Davis has a chance because it's a UC school. Stanford and CAL care a lot about academics - that's not just window dressing for them. UC Davis makes a lot more sense then a school like Tulane which is in the South. Last time I checked the conference has Pacific in it's name...
