They will find a way to soft-land these two. Notre Dame is free to join the ACC or B10 to help make it happen for their pals at Stanford and Cal. Put up or shut up. Notre Dame can do their civic duty and join SDSU, Stanford & Cal in a refurbished version of the Pac-12. In fact, Notre Dame can help influence NBC to offer this newly formed Pac-12, which will include Notre Dame & SDSU football, a "fat" new television contract as well. That way neither of these big academic powerhouses will be left out from this round of realignment. That should help those in South Bend sleep better at night!

They aren't "abandoned" they are relegated to the hoi polloi with the rest of the unwashed masses. Cal especially has been on the gravy train for years while providing no value so not sure what they expect.

Conference realignments, in general, are driven by: 1) Media dollars, money money money 2) Market valuation / eye balls 3) Conference president / universities alignment and interests to XYZ factors
Plus other lesser weighted factors

Part of the consultant's job will be to assess the Pac-12's remaining value, which includes significant brand equity, NCAA basketball units and access to incoming media money. Lawyers are examining just how much access the remaining four schools have to this year's media money and other league assets.

"That's what did us in at the end," Schulz said. "Not just the last week. People had feet in both camps."

continued attitude of All For Me by the 4 forgotten 4 - of the PAC or will it be 2
would think they might want to put some decent TV market schools together so they might have some leverage or a decent travel group or division

Can you blame them? They will turn over Rock and then decide their path. It’s a coin toss on what they do.

They also shouldn't ever become members of the MW, that would be stupid, because it would be giving up a MASSIVE amount of $$$ in NCAA credits that belong to the PAC.

Assuming OSU and WSU join the MWC, Cal and Stanford would also have a 50% chance for an automatic bid to the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

Cal has huge financial obligations from stadium upgrade and new sport buildings, they can't give up football because they need the revenue to pay down the debt. OSU and WSU can find a new home but do not want to give up the PAC money. But what does Stanford do? What are their options?

I would guess Stanford goes independent until things shake up again in 5-7 years.

I would guess Stanford goes independent until things shake up again in 5-7 years. It might be tough for them to get a TV contract outside of an apple like deal. They are really not much of a national draw so it may be tough to convince a network to do a one off deal with them.

Long live the PAC. I like the idea of having SMU buy out our exit fee. But is this a long term viable League Pray for big 12 invite.
