I just don't see why anyone cares too much one way or the other. 848.6 minutes with KJ on the floor: +/- of 81.0, net rating +5.9 (71st percentile) 680.5 minutes with KJ on the bench: +/- of 181.0, net rating +16.3 (96th percentile) The transfer was best for both parties. KJ wasn’t a great player but he was a great leader and teammate. That’s what we will miss, not his production cause that’s easily replaceable.

I thank him for his time on the Mesa, and wish him all the best. He was a great ambassador for Alma Mater, got his degree, and moved on. That is what we are supposed to do. There should be no bitterness about that.
Go Aztecs

We’ll see soon enough whether the change of scenery can elevate Keshad’s game. I hope for his sake UA gives him the opportunity to play the type of game that wasn’t available to him here. I have a hard time believing they will, and I’ll leave it at that. Best of luck to him until we’re playing each other. Also, we may find out if they have a better shooting coach. When I watched Keshad in shoot arounds, his outside shot was good. We know the game results (not good). Not sure if the adrenalin, the fatigue, defensive player, or some other cause affected his game time outside shots but he has a better outside shot than he depicted in the games. I am sorry to see him leave, but I wish him the best going forward. He was the most entertaining interview by far (and I am including Dutch in this). He is a good player that showed improvement last season (unlike some players). He should be better this season. Go Aztecs!

Here's the AZ article, should you be interested in reading it. (See link in post.) Wild cast lost 5 players, then added five.

First thing in the morning!! Enemy is a bit strong considering he spent 4 years at SDSU, earned his degree, graduated with honors, and became captain, plus he was the leading scorer for SDSU in the National Championship game. He achieved all he could at SDSU. So, he left to try a new challenge and support his family.

I appreciate what he did here but he’s playing for a rival now. Sorry, but personally I’m not too invested in whether he does well or poorly next season. Wish him the best but he’s not here anymore and I focus on our team.

Those trashing Keshad might want to listen to Dave V, and I'm sure he's not alone among our in his affection towards Keshad & what he brings to the court. But of course the keyboard warriors here know more than college coaches (from SDSU, UA, Kentucky, etc.): “First of all, an elite defender,” said San Diego State assistant Dave Velasquez, who is essentially the defensive coordinator for an Aztecs team that ranked No. 2 nationally in 2022 and No. 4 in 2023 in points per possession allowed. “He can guard every single position on the floor, is a really good defensive rebounder and he’s capable of a lot offensively but really understands who he is — someone who shoots an incredible percentage from 15 feet and in — and gets others involved. His ability to work around other really good players is why we were able to go to the national championship game. He’s that glue guy you need: not really bad at anything and solid to very good at everything.” “He’s a worker. He’s an everyday guy. He’s someone you can rely on,” Velasquez said. “He’s the ultimate winner, the ultimate teammate, everything you’d ever want in a player as a coach in terms of leadership. He’s the definition of a leader: vocal, sets an example, has the ability to calm guys down in the most stressful moments and get guys to rise up in the moments when they need a kick in the rear end. He’s just a total leader, and not just games. He led us in practices and film sessions, by having a great attitude traveling through the Mountain West, which isn’t easy, bringing an energy that is infectious when you’re stuck in airports and riding the bus. Every coach in the world is looking for a guy like him.” So when it is suggested that perhaps talking about Johnson is a sore subject, given his decision to transfer, Velasquez interrupts. “No, no, he left a legend,” the coach said. “He gave us four years, got his degree, was the first in his family to do it. We were all at his graduation (last) Saturday. He’s all good in our book. Now is the time you tell him to take advantage of his opportunities. Now is the time for them to be selfish, go get whatever they can get. We kept up our side of the bargain and so did he, so it’s a mutual love.” theathletic.com/4537869/2023/05/20/kentucky-arizona-keshad-johnson/?source=user_shared_article

Does anyone know how much Keshad is getting in NIL money for joining Arizona?

Not sure why this was moved to Off Topic, Keshad will always be an "Aztec for Life." This situation is very different than a potential recruit that ultimately chose another school.

Fishn'Aztec doesn't like the topic so it gets moved to other topics. I see how this board works.

He not an Aztec next season, he’s playing for a rival. When Machado went from the Dodgers to the Padres do you think Machado topics would’ve still been on a Dodgers forum? When he’s out of college and playing elsewhere I could see it changing, but for now he’s playing for a rival.

Aztecking, you're comparing a half season Machado with the dodgers to 4 years of Keshad Johnson in an Aztecs uniform. Get a grip!

Does that mean he is off-topic too? Aztec for life, plain and simple. I'm actually interested in following Keshad and his career, unlike other recruits that never decided to play for SDSU.

We have players transfer out of SDSU all the time and people regularly create threads that provide relevant updates on their career paths and success. Lucas Johnson, QB at Montana, is a recent one that comes to mind. We had regular threads about Zylan Cheatham, even after he transferred to ASU and went pro. How about the recent thread that mentions Josh Simmons going to Ohio State? Should that also move to off-topic? With Keshad, it feels like some people have "hurt feelings" and are making him out to be the enemy. He graduated from SDSU and played 4 years, so I just don't see it that way. If the thread is discussing a former SDSU player, it's relevant. A "potential" player that decides to play elsewhere e is clearly off-topic (never an Aztec).

I'm a huge Keshad guy & will be watching every game he plays, but this folder is for (non-MWC) other college sports. How is someone playing outside of the MWC not appropriate for this folder? If he had transferred to Boise then maybe it'd still be relevant in the other folder. People do still read & react to posts in this folder. Doesn't mean Keshad is being ignored. Not sure why your feelings are so hurt?
