I still can not get over all the hooking I saw other teams doing when driving against the Aztecs the last few games.
It may have to do with all the camera angles they have for these big game.
Every time they seemed to drive under or around the basket they seemed to hook their free hand around either get around, passed or just to push them out of the way and it never got called.
Is this some kind of new playing style or am I just old school and not up on the new rules?
This use to be a foul back in the day.
And remember, STAY OFF MY LAWN! ! !

That hooking foul call on Mensah where they had to go to the monitors to review it, was ridiculous. The Ref was standing right on top of it, looking right at the play. Unbelievable. They never should have gone to the monitors, because it should have been called on the floor by the Ref staring right at it. Sheesh. |

FYI, even with the delayed start on the clock, the ball went out of bounds with 0.3 seconds remaining. It's impossible to catch and shoot a ball with 0.2 or less seconds remaining. So the game is over as long as the refs can determine the clock was delayed at least 0.1 seconds. You couldn't catch the ball and shoot but you could throw the inbounds in front of the rim and try for a tip in. That would be kind of scary with their center. To clarify, the refs are supposed to end the game if there is 0.2 or 0.1 seconds remaining. Research has shown it's impossible to touch the ball in that little of time, even with a finger briefly tipping the ball near the rim. |

I never watch ESPN first take anymore but I did this morning to see what they had to say. The entire panel said the ref shouldn't have called it. They said it was a physical game the entire time and hardly any fouls were called all game, so you can't blow the whistle in that situation. I see where they're coming from whatever
We're in the final four and nobody is going to remember that controversy except Creighton fans and us. I'm stoked to be riding this high all week

I never watch ESPN first take anymore but I did this morning to see what they had to say. The entire panel said the ref shouldn't have called it. They said it was a physical game the entire time and hardly any fouls were called all game, so you can't blow the whistle in that situation. I see where they're coming from whatever We're in the final four and nobody is going to remember that controversy except Creighton fans and us. I'm stoked to be riding this high all week Yeah, it's pretty simple. Creighton fans will take the stance of the panel, and SDSU fans will say it's an obvious foul, and you need to call that no matter how a game has been called, since it clearly was a FOUL. It was a play that intense focus was on. Basically the final play of the game. Hyper focus by the Refs. The naysayers should take that into consideration. Like I said in the "Kudos to the Ref" thread. Kudos to him for making the call when many others wouldn't. It was the correct call. A foul is a foul no matter when it happens in a game. |

But this is an "apples to oranges" comparison, since they pretty much only play five guys and we have a solid 9-player rotation. If any of our 9 guys played their minutes, I think they would most likely average double figures as well.

I think a guy who really deserves some love this morning is (IMO) the team MVP Matt Bradley. This run simply does not happen without him. Period. Full stop. I can't imagine the challenges he's facing this season, but he's facing them as an Aztec, and giving it all for his team and brothers (who in turn are lifting him up right now). This moment belongs to him as much as anyone. He's earned it.
Now, let's go to Houston and bring home a National Championship.

I just wanted to chime in on something I heard over and over about Creighton. The broadcasters would regularly talk about how all of their starting five averaged double figures and SDSU only has one (Bradley). But this is an "apples to oranges" comparison, since they pretty much only play five guys and we have a solid 9-player rotation. If any of our 9 guys played their minutes, I think they would most likely average double figures as well. Very good point, and true. I agree. |

AFTER we win the Championship Game, there will be further disclaimers, with such words as "Outlier" and "fluke" liberally sprinkled into the conversations in homage and laudation to the "real" champions, the "Chosen Ones", THE BLUE BLOODS, who "should" have been represented. |
