This might not be a popular opinion on this board, but right now, I would rather have Ty France playing first than Eric Hosmer. I haven't been following Ty this season but just saw he would be 2nd in BA on the Pads right now. Yeah, he took a dump in May, but has apparently righted the ship. Good to see him having some success.

It is an extremely dumb question. The answer is rather obvious - nobody wants to be traded off a successful & fun team & from where he leaves. I agree with Hosmer - I'd hope the guy is smarter than that, but apparently he's not.

And it's not difficult to answer, despite his arrogant response. Despite how hard Kevin Acee shills for him, he's just soft. Professionalism as a clubhouse leader would be good.

Asking him if he would be disappointed is a very stupid question, or a question asked by a stupid person. Your pick.

I know you're infatuated with the man, but come on. This is extremely, extremely soft. Part of your obligation as a high-profile athlete is handling media sensibly. It wasn't even a hard question. "I can't focus on what's out of my control and just want to focus on the here and now." Perfectly acceptable from an adult human being. He's just not used to being held accountable by anyone. He'd be eaten alive for this in a major media market. He did answer other questions, so at least there's something....But I think the team needs to move on.

I could have said, "You sure have an axe to grind with this guy Ryan." And, "You sure do go out of your way to rip the guy, Ryan" but I didn't go low like you. No, this is how I feel about the situation, and so do a lot of professional athletes, etc... What a stupid question to ask him. I would feel that way about anyone in this situation. Hopefully, he learned from that ridiculously put question. Sheesh.

Doing your job doesn't equal an axe to grind. Credit to Jeff Sanders here, who didn't deserve to be attacked for doing his job.

I personally have no problem with an athlete expressing himself in a way he seems fit, to a reporter that asks a dumb, or disrespectful question. "Would you be disappointed?" Really? What a dumb way to ask that question to anyone. Common sense? Common sense says don't ask that ridiculous question. Sometimes, they (reporters) need to be called out on their dumb, and or, disrespectful questions or statements.

So in this case it was more along the lines of definitely dumb.

As someone who does interviews, we are instructed to ask questions that may seem like softballs in nature.. But I have dumb covered, which I'm sure you'll disagree with.

Well, then of course you're going to more sympathetic to the reporter. I would highly question someone's expertise in the business if they instructed someone to ask THAT question. By the way, his teammates response to him possibly being traded is a testament to how well liked he is in the locker room and what kind of teammate he is, something you have questioned.

Getting $1.4M along with Frasier doesn't hurt either. I think this cuts into several people's PT - Myers, Hosmer, Kim & we may even see Cronenworth resting more so we don't see a late season fade again like last year. I'm assuming O'Grady is the odd man out (if so, good that he hit a HR in his final game). Or, do they finally pull the plug on Mateo (I don't think so)? I thought that the Frasier deal was really well structured. Very happy that we we able to get him.

What a weird response. Being knowledgeable and experienced with the process? So that makes me sympathetic? Lol. No. It's like asking a draftee if they are excited to be drafted (which I have done..) You would highly question someone for asking a basic question of trade dynamics as the deadline approaches? Yeah, that's brilliant. And no, the only thing it's a testament to is how much of a shill Kevin Acee is for his only real source on the team. Just look at his pattern of articles and tweets - It's honestly a little embarrassing. He called out Manny Machado for his defense today, yet tried to blame Hosmer's defense on "metrics." I get that Hosmer is respected by his teammates, it's a tight group of guys. But this is a business at the end of the day.

That's a question I would expect from a novice who didn't know any better. It's something I'd expect from a 12 year-old reporter given a shot to ask a question on the Leno show years ago. It was just stupid. Some similar questions: "you're mom's dying, does that disappoint you?"; " They say your leg will be amputated. Do you think you'll miss it?" The reporter asked a stupid question and got the the answer he deserved.
