Well, then of course you're going to more sympathetic to the reporter. I would highly question someone's expertise in the business if they instructed someone to ask THAT question. By the way, his teammates response to him possibly being traded is a testament to how well liked he is in the locker room and what kind of teammate he is, something you have questioned. What a weird response. Being knowledgeable and experienced with the process? So that makes me sympathetic? Lol. No. It's like asking a draftee if they are excited to be drafted (which I have done..) You would highly question someone for asking a basic question of trade dynamics as the deadline approaches? Yeah, that's brilliant. And no, the only thing it's a testament to is how much of a shill Kevin Acee is for his only real source on the team. Just look at his pattern of articles and tweets - It's honestly a little embarrassing. He called out Manny Machado for his defense today, yet tried to blame Hosmer's defense on "metrics." I get that Hosmer is respected by his teammates, it's a tight group of guys. But this is a business at the end of the day. You hate Hosmer! We get it! Doesn't mean you need to be blind,

Doesn't mean you need to be blind, Blind...to what? I don't think anything I've said lacks objectivity here. I think it's reasonable to conclude that his statement lacks professionalism and speaks to the pattern of behavior he's exhibited with prior actions. If that's controversial, I'm a little amazed. Wil Myers has been subjected to this line of questioning for years and he has handled it as a professional should. I guess we'll see where the dominoes fall by Friday.

Couldn't agree more. That's a question I would expect from a novice who didn't know any better. It's something I'd expect from a 12 year-old reporter given a shot to ask a question on the Leno show years ago. It was just stupid. Some similar questions: "you're mom's dying, does that disappoint you?"; " They say your leg will be amputated. Do you think you'll miss it?" The reporter asked a stupid question and got the the answer he deserved. Mmk.

What's weird is you defending this elementary type of question. That's brilliant. It would have been better if you didn't say anything, because it reflects on you poorly, if you're a reporter in any way. I know you couldn't help yourself since it was another opportunity for you to bash Hosmer, and that's sad. If you are any type of reporter, be better. Maybe you'll notice that I used your typical line of response that you usually use towards me. Fun, isn't it? Sheesh

I'm trying to come from a position of experience here and I found no fault in Jeff Sanders for doing his job, as did his colleagues. Was the question a little obvious? Maybe. But it was an opportunity for Hosmer to paint himself and his teammates in a positive light...and he didn't. Moving on to the important stuff - At least one move is likely coming by tonight. Let's hope it puts the Padres over the top in the West.

Starling Marte heading to Oakland...but not in time to appear today against the Padres. Interesting move for the A's.

Saw that Marte trade and thought, Jeez (Luzardo), the Padres just faced Marte and he hit almost .500 ! Happy the deal won't have him here before today's game. The A's have got plenty of pressure right now - mostly from their own city government - so it's good that they're TCB in the trade market. From the looks of the proposed deal, the Marlins must be trying to shed themselves of Marte and/or the salary. They got very little in return unless Luzardo turns into an All-Star overnight.

Luzardo was the #2 pitching prospect in baseball less than 24 months ago. They got great value for a rental.

Which is complete horse$#!+ if you ask me - they've been one of the best teams in baseball (granted not in the post season) and arguably the most overachieving team in MLB over the past decade yet have been treated like redheaded stepchildren.

I'd say the city of Oakland needs to treat this w/ a sense of urgency. They already lost the Raiders and the Warriors.
They can't be that DUMB, can they? Sometimes in business, when you have no leverage --- you gotta take it up the tailpipe in the interim.

I applaud the A's being aggressive. Luzardo was a highly touted prospect, and he might end up being great ---- but he's been complete ass as a major leaguer and is carrying a negative WAR this season.
Sometimes, you gotta go for it. Plus, OAK has a lot of good young pitching in their system.

Hos breaks up the no hitter. Legacy. Might we have seen the last hit by Hosmer in a Padres uniform?

As a team, they're barely winning 50% of their games over the past two months. That ain't gonna do it, Hosmer or not.

Gallo to the Yankees. Teams couldn't agree on Hosmer's money.
