Wow, Machado gets a sombrero for 0 for 4 and a terrible AB in the 8th. 3 swings at crap pitches and he was toast. And likely had the biggest play defensively of the entire game, save for perhaps the last out.

Profar tried to give Manny a SD sombrero after the game. LOL
Luckily, we didn't need Manny's bat tonight - just his glove - and he was practically flawless with that.

Manny comes through. Justin Turner-Overdrive hesitated a split-second on the throw, and Manny legged it out to beat the throw to first for a single.
Padres on the move again… a sweep of the Dodgers would be IS awesome.
Manny putting it away with the game ending double play.
Holy Cow! and Whoa Nellie!

It looked like Turner snuck a quick peek towards 2nd on that play before throwing to first, which was all Manny needed to beat it out.

Yep, and it looked like he didn't have a good handle on the ball. I'm glad Manny decided to hustle down the line on that play.

Awesome sweep. Pumped.
Profar, geez--- idiotic baserunning. You have Tatis up, and almost a lock to score on a single. Glad it didn't end up making the difference.

Unless they had a hit and run going, it didn’t look like aggressive play, it just looked plain dumb. But when you get caught like that, it almost always does…

Needs to, wants to, semantics. It will be my only critique of his play, and he makes up for it in many other ways. Again, I'm not saying he doesn't ALWAYS hustle. So, don't paint me in that. Also, again, I've noticed how he could have been at third at times on a base hit, for example, but wasn't hustling and only got to second. So, it's not just the lack of hustle to first base at times. I get it that he's managing it, but hopefully it won't hurt the team down the road.

Yes, but you don't need to be Einstein to see how it can potentially hurt the team in certain situations.

You know what hurts more? Manny himself getting hurt (like he already is) trying to take an extra base in the third inning of a meaningless game in the middle of June just to appease this idiocy from disillusioned fans who have no clue what they speak of. Team's fine with it. Management is fine with it. Ownership is fine with it. The only people who care about this are white reporters trying to stoke the fire of not so subtle racism and white fans who refuse to equate the same level of "hustle" elsewhere. Here's another example : White reporter and LA beat writer Bill Plaschke. (When Cody Bellinger jogged out a ball to first base last year, there was no story or catchy tweet piece. Wonder white the difference is....)

Maybe it’s why the recognition of what really is racism has become so convoluted no one really understand what it is.

He doesn't hurt the team at all by ANY of his actions or effort. I'm glad he gets it, even if some fans don't. He goes all out when there's a chance of it making a difference, and that's all that matters. Not sure I agree it's about racism, but IMO more about $$$. I think people see $300M & think he should be Pete Rose when it comes to running out everything & playing with no concern for their own safety. At least in SD. In Baltimore where he got the rep maybe there were other factors involved, but I think that stigma & the $$ associated with him is a bigger factor now. In other words, the "if I'm getting paid $30M I'm running all out all the time (even if it makes no sense to do so)" mentality.

It's not unique to Manny specifically. Other targets include Juan Soto, Acuña, Tatis, etc. It's not even difficult to find, either. How this isn't blatantly obvious by now is beyond me.
