Hey Ryan, Did they start construction on that Preller statue outside the stadium yet?

Dear Preller,
Please send Hosmer and Tingler packing this offseason. Thank you for not trading Hassell. Give him a callup next season. Convince the new manager to give Kim more playing time, even if that means playing Frazier in the outfield some nights. Don't resign both Myers and Pham - give one of them a 1 year deal. Get a corner outfield bat that can hit for power in free agency or through trade. The starting rotation should be fine next year with Clevinger, Morejon, etc. and a potential Gore callup
Yours truly, A Loyal Fan

Hey Ryan, Did they start construction on that Preller statue outside the stadium yet? I'm sure he'll get more than his share of blame.

Preller deserves his share of the blame here. His management selections have proven to be both weak and ineffective. Making a few blockbuster deals does not make an ok GM if those players all go bust after 100 games and the players brought in can't find their place on the team.
He shares equally with Tingler and the rest of the coaching staff for this nonsense. He really can't fly above it, and he shouldn't get a free pass. Problem is, the Padres can't afford to start a rebuild right when their window for winning is wide open. Others must be involved in the search for a manager and coaches who can get the best out of this group and make them understand who's running the show.

There's not even one guy in our expanded alternate line-ups that we developed as a program. Every starter and back-up catcher, IF and OF were from somewhere else. Weathers and Lamet are the only players on the active roster who the Padres originally signed. I know we traded a lot of prospects to get some of these guys but two guys?
The Padres have 10 pitchers on the 60-Day Injured List 10!!!! And 2 more on the 10-day IL list. Someone isn't doing something right in our farm system. And they should get a better orthopedic surgeon to check potential players in the draft and trades,.

"There is a level of accountability, veteran leadership that this team really lacks." But...what about Hosmer, and his veteran leadership? (Sorry, Ryan, I just had to.)

"There is a level of accountability, veteran leadership that this team really lacks." But...what about Hosmer, and his veteran leadership? (Sorry, Ryan, I just had to.) That was a direct quote from Britt Ghiroli, who writes for The Athletic. And yeah, that would be my question, too. Having his leadership and clubhouse value shoved down the collective throats for the last four years like it somehow justifies his playing time. Dug this up yesterday... Ha-Seong Kim in 2021: 0.5 fWAR in a half season's worth of AB's. Eric Hosmer's four year Padre tenure: 0.2 fWAR.

People point out Hosmer's RISP numbers but what good is a $20 million/year 1st baseman who seems to have to be sat down against any Lefthander with an ERA below 4.00 and who has all of 11 HRs at one of the main power positions? And oh yeah, he's tied for 7th highest number of error at 1B in entire MLB.

Hosmer didn't play tonight.
The Padres still found a way to lose the game. This time the closer, who closed it for San Francisco.
It's really in the DNA …

Arrieta has been DFA'd, and Javy Guerra has been brought up.

Vince Velaquez gives up 3 runs in the first inning. Once again, the Padres find themselves practically out of the game (because they can't score runs) before they even get an at bat.
One of the runs can be blamed on Caratini who couldn't keep his glove out of the way of the batter. TBF, Posey just gave up a run on an interference call.
Nevertheless, the beatdown of these losers goes on…
Now it's a bullpen game.
Fans paid good money to see a game, and all they get this pile of dung.
If they're going to fire Tingler anyway, they might as well just do it now - no need to wait for the bitter end of the season. It's already come and gone.

Bases loaded 2 outs, no runs.
Bases loaded no outs, heart of the batting order, one stinking run.
This is yet another reason the Padres continue to lose baseball games.

Anyone who was around back in the day will remember the many different little buggies (customized golf carts) that teams used to ferry their relievers in from the bull pen. Padres ought to seriously consider reinstating this outstanding perk for their relievers.

Padres needed the win today - if for no other reason, their own sanity. While it won't matter in the grand scheme, it does keep them away from .500 for another day, and it's always a small emotional boost to walk one off. They have to be completely drained emotionally by this point in a very disappointing season.
Having really nothing more to lose at this point, maybe today's win will help them to just relax and play baseball for the rest of the season.

Manny gives the Padres a nice lead with a grand slam, and consequently Crismatt comes in only to completely crap the mound, giving back all four runs.
Padres go ahead again.
Closer comes in and blows the save thanks to a Caratini passed ball.
Padres 2021.
Yu Darvish needs to get over having his own catcher next year. Caratini wasted a position spot this season with very limited offensive production.
Another game lost that should've been won.
