Tough luck today. Whatever happened in the top of the seventh spelled the end of a decent outing. With only 63 pitches thrown, he was headed for a much deeper outing … and then he made a mistake. And then another. Oh well, up to the seventh, he was on top of the game.
Now, the Padres will have to get out of their offensive rut and show that yesterday's outburst wasn't an outlier.
Brand new ballgame, and one the Padres really shouldn't lose.

Paddack back on the IL.
It's probably where he belongs.

So many injuries on this team. Is it possible the training staff needs some tweaks?

I'd be open to bringing in someone new to oversee sports science and conditioning.
Hard to count on Paddack being a rotation mainstay in 2022. Might end up in the bullpen.

Speaking of the 2022 rotation: Musgrove Snell Clevinger Paddack Darvish + Morejon Weathers Gore

Hard to count on Gore and Weathers contributing much, unless they really improve by leaps and bounds this winter and spring.
I still see Weathers as a bullpen guy. I'm pretty bullish on Morejon though, he has potential.
How has Paddack been solid? He has a negative WAR, his ERA is over 5, and he didn't make it out of the 5th inning in his last start. Yes, he's been "better" --- though one game was against the Snakes, who are terrible. I am rooting for the guy, but 2021 hasn't been kind to him.

Speaking of the 2022 rotation: Musgrove Snell Clevinger Paddack Darvish + Morejon Weathers Gore You forgot one - Lamet. He's surrounded in uncertainty, but if he continues to mend he'll be in that rotation and worst case would play a role like Stammen or Crismett this year. Paddack has definitely turned it around, although the 2 injuries have kept him from being more consistent. He'll be starting somewhere. I like Morejon, but think Weathers is another Stammen/Crismett type of guy and believe Gore will be given at least 2 months at AAA. Overall, that's solid, assuming Clevinger is 100% & Darvish/Snell can stay healthy. Aside from the Dodgers I don't think there's a better one, potential-wise, in the league heading into 2022 (at this point).

It's always about potential … which, if we've learned anything about this year, is not always about reality.
