Padres offense is at least hanging tough. But how many runs will they ultimately need to score as long as Paddack's on the mound? I don't even think Paddack could give up 20. Well, D- Spaz is doing a pretty good job all by himself - 4 runs this past inning on 2 HR. Good grief.

Which Paddack shows up today? The promising one, I hope… he's pitching a shutout through 4 innings. The Padres haven't given him much support. One mistake can still change the game.

He's been terrific all day. Given it's just 7 innings he's done his job. Its frosting from here out. As I typed Fernando adds comfort zone.

… except for the turd that Pomeranz is dropping on the field right now… He wasn't that bad. Freeman had an incredible AB as always and Albies hit a very good pitch. If Caratini doesn't have the PB its 3-1.

Not that bad, but bad enough… Come in, get batters out. Don't give up runs. That's the job.
Without the Tatis HR, they'd have lost this game. Lots of ways to post-process it.
Luckily, they won the first game.

Luckily, they won the first game. Disagree with that philosophy in general. The job is to come in & make good pitches, which he did. Sometimes you have to tip your cap to the opposition. They just put good swings on the ball, and the pitch to Albies was right where you want it. If he'd hung a few pitches it would be different, but he didn't. Not every hit is on the pitcher. We won; we didn't lose. You can play the "without" game 100 ways, and what makes this one "lucky"? It was a solid pitching performance across the board.

The GOOD Paddack showed up today.

Despite a sketchy third inning, Paddack had another positive outing and gets the win tonight. The fact that he got past that obstacle in the third was good to see as he's definitely needed to not only get some innings pitched but also put the Padres in a position to win games.

Paddack gave the team six solid innings. We need more of that to save our bullpen during the second half of the season.

Should have got out of that inning giving up 0 runs if Tatis makes that play.

Should've been another E-Concepcion, but they gave the A's batter a hit.

He's now tied for the team lead in wins. Good for him - all of the "mall cop" $#!+ talking fans can go suck it.

Paddack hits the 10 day IL - oblique strain. Snake bit. Dude was just really starting to get on track. Sounds like he'll just miss 1 start, given the days off we have this week. We need him!

He's supposed to miss all of August. According to whom? All reports still say 10 days. Obliques aren't a 10 day thing. Pretty sure it was Acee. FanGraphs also said the early prognosis is late August. He won't be back after the minimum.

I have a feeling he might not be the only one who's out for the month of August, either … at any rate, it's not a huge loss. They'll just have to go with more BP games.

First game back after the oblique injury was decent enough. I didn't expect him to throw more than 80 pitches, and he almost didn't disappoint. Have to see how he's feeling tomorrow and Wednesday, but he did ok tonight. Still throwing a few too many pitches in some situations, but he didn't walk anyone and only allowed one ER.
Gotta count it as a win for him - even though he won't qualify for an official W tonight.
