Welp, when you are a non revenue sport all that matters is that you have athletes graduate with a good GPA. Her record definitely didn't come into the decision to keep her and since the sport doesn't bring in enough revenue we won't be firing her before this contract expires.

I was skeptical earlier in the year, but they really turned it around despite losing a key starter for the season in Adams. They finished tied 5th at 9-9 in conference, her best finish & trending up. Given it's a non-rev I have no issues with this. Hopefully they can improve on the season.

Not merit based on on-court performance but imagine given the financial uncertainty with athletic dept budget this made sense. Dept will receive $800-$1M less from NCAA basketball tourny, football season could be delayed or canceled did not justify paying out assistant salaries, new search and increased salary for new coach and assistants.

Your tax dollars at work.
With benefits, Stacie Terry gets...ahem...earns $325,000 per year. For you math majors, that's $27,000 per month, every month, month after month.

Shocking but as mentioned probably the best financial decision for this year.

I know many people are shocked, but maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel. Remember how long it took Brady to make Ball State a winner.

Her salary was around $220k previously which I believe had her in the middle to lower 3rd of the conference. What makes you think it's $325k?

Then you need to multiply all the other coaches salaries in the conference by basically 1.5-ish as well. Is Boise State's coach worth $450k by your math? She's in the middle to lower half of the pack, which is where she should be. There are other coaches earning $300k+ in base salary, and some earning more than Terry who finished with worse records. Being a college basketball coach is a high paying gig for EVERYONE who's coaching at this level.

Being a college basketball coach is a high paying gig for EVERYONE who's coaching at this level. It's not my math. That's what California taxpayers are paying Stacie Terry. Given the lack of results after seven years, maybe Stacie Terry shouldn't still be the coach? I suspect the taxpayer could find many others to achieve the same results at a lower cost. Look at Terry's initial salary of $114,000, which seems more appropriate. Jaime White, the coach at MWC champion Fresno St. (in her fourth year), is paid a salary of $255K and $344K with benefits...for first place. transparentcalifornia.com/salaries/search/?q=jaime+white&y=And BTW, Terry is the second-longest tenured coach in the MWC.

Well, I guess the best employment for job security is a tie between weather person/forecaster and the Aztecs WBB coach.

WHAT?
Year after year losing record, minimal tournament wins with the same year EVERY year. She has a good off season starts off okay mid-season slide then picks it up at the end of year to safe face and then wins one or 2 games in the tournament (to finish with a losing recorded) . There are no more excuses she has had HER players/recruits now in place for long enough to learn and execute her style of play. Things are not changing what don't they understand the coaching staff needs to be replaced.
I am sure they could find a successful D2 coach looking to make a name for them self for less and perform as good or better. This current staff sure is not bringing in the type of recruits to change this program anytime soon and they are not coaching anyone up to change things either. This would be a good time for a change, there is no momentum or chance of loosing out on any high ranking players.
This program is just stuck in the mud spinning its wheels. Welcome to another 2-4 years of lower half of the Mountain West!

And I never understand why so many folks on here complain about the coach when most haven’t even attended a game.

There hasn't been a lot of winning lately for Aztecs WBB. And lately is being nice.

A coach should be given an extended amount of time to establish their identity, bring in their own people (coaches, staff and recruits) and to implement their own philosophy and style. This should be 3-5 year maximum time table to prove one worth, if no progress is seen time to move on. This program appears to be headed in the same direction. Times up, need a change WHY continue down the same rode. just saying!
