KOGO at 9:00 said major announcement at SDSU, I didn't catch the time, today. Speculation is football. Yesterday I listened to Scott & B & R podcast. Scott said this situation would be over by this weekend.
Look for Rocky to retire.

Are we assuming it's Brady as the new HC? It was going to happen sooner or later anyway. Hope we have an OC that potentially works well with our new stud QB.

So if Rocky is retiring, is the assumption Brady will do some housecleaning??

Hiring Hoke is a mistake, but the school is in a bad spot, without the resources to pay for a program-altering hire.

It would be great if Rocky (turning 70) decided he didn't wan tot deal with all that goes with being a HeadCaoach and would be our DC with Hoke becoming the new Head Coach.
Regardless of what happens Rocky is due a lot of gratitude from us Aztec Fans for all that he has accomplished.Great Coach, Great Teacher, Great Person.

I always wondered why Hoke would come here as a defensive line coach - that seems like it is way below what he could get elsewhere - unless he had some sort of understanding that when Rocky stepped down, he'd take over. Just idle speculation on my part...

Hiring Hoke is a mistake, but the school is in a bad spot, without the resources to pay for a program-altering hire. Why? He was the genesis of the return of Aztec football. He was/is well liked and respected as a coach/recruiter and has had coaching experience. Would offer continuance/stability of the program. My first choice was/is Bobby Hauck but, not sure that is an option now. Not sure who(we could attract/afford) out there right now?

Bye, bye 10 win seasons. I guess we get what we deserve. Take a deep breath, Francis. For all we know, Rocky decided to hand the reigns back over to Hoke and resume duties as DC.

Stability is great, but if you want to break through to the elite level, you need to go outside the program. They just don't have the resources or funds to do it.

Hoke won at the D1 level, Hauck did not. I would argue that it's Hauck that was a better position coach than HC and not the other way around.

Sad Day if Rocky leaves. But when he was on tv after winning a game and he said he felt like he lost because of the offense, it was a telltale sign he was not having fun. He doesn't coach for money anymore. He coaches for the fulfillment. Rocky is a rare breed, I can only think of a couple of guys that are like Rocky.
Bronco Mendenhall being numero uno.

So this is interesting! Perhaps Rocky didn't want to fire Horton and it's led to him leaving....
Bruce Feldman @brucefeldmancfb The San Diego State drama with Rocky Long stems in part from the administration wanting him to look at some staff changes and him not wanting them to tell him what to do with his program, per sources. He definitely has been calling around to some Power 5 programs about DC jobs.
