Drive for 5 STILL ALIVE!! Win on Saturday and it should be all locked up. Great win in spite of refs and terrible outside shooting. Also, can't get over the chin on Haney on Boise St, just had to throw that out there. I've been thinking about it (Haney) ever since he torched us last year in Boise. You're lucky he's not on the Aztecs, otherwise, you'd be in trouble. We've had a long history of making fun of players' appearances and it seems to be ok around here - only if they play for other teams, anyway. |

Not too worried about Fresno. No way Fresno beats us 3 times this year. They arent that good. A Fresno opener in the tourney might be good timing with the team most rested and playing their best.

Makes no sense – you don't want people to say anything negative about the players, coaches, etc., but it's totally fine to call out the way a player looks? You choose to be hypocritical in this instance just to disagree with me? Sad. I'm pretty sure this is the very definition of "trolling," of which you've railed so hard against. |

I'm ALWAYS worried - but I do agree that playing Fresno on Thurs, especially now that they're short-handed, is far more desirable than playing 4 games in 4 days. I don't care if it is vs. cupcake SJSU on Wed, that extra day off is YUGE, especially for TK's not-100% ankle. |

FYI, I'm pretty sure that I didn't instigate anything - nor did I provide an unprovoked response or name-call another poster as someone else did to me. I didn't "egg" anyone on; if someone can't help himself from attacking someone else, that should be on them and their actions should be reviewed. Now I'm curious, I called out a poster who was "making fun" of a player's appearance. Whether I agree or not with what was said, the comment probably wasn't in good taste, but who knows if it's within the rules or not. Anyway, I stuck up for a player (which is very popular to do around here), and I get a talking to? *shrugs* |

Not sure why everyone is so afraid of Fresno State. Their 6'6" guard, Hopkins, is out for the season with a foot injury. But this is a real one, not a Caleb Martin foot injury. He got hurt halfway through the 1st half against Wyoming who they then lost to by 10 @ Fresno. They then scored only 54 points beating Air Force by only 6. Hopkins was their third highest scored and rebounder.
That's a big loss. I would love to play them and get some pay back.

The main reason you should not be AS worried about Fresno State as normal - they lost their point guard for the season. As a result of this serious setback, (a) Wyoming just beat them by 10 in their own home, and (b) they only beat Air Force by 6 at Air Force, only scoring 54 points. With their point guard, I considered them a tougher matchup for the Aztecs than even Nevada (who also lost their point guard). Without, I'd much rather play Fresno State. You can't just look at head to head records - you have to look at things that have happened since then, and consider how teams are playing now. |

Teams get worn down by this time in the season. "Lucky" teams, those without serious changes to their personnel because of injury or personal behavior, should do well. Aztecs are on the cusp of greater things today, but they're always just one or two players from a disaster. So there's plenty of nail-biting yet to come.
That disaster could come in many forms, too. Obviously, a "misstep" on the court would be disastrous during a tourney with no time to recoup and recover, but just as easily, a team could run into some refs with overactive whistles …

We stormed into 5th place hugely and overpoweringly(Sorry I couldn't resist)........... 11-7 this year and 9-9 for 6th place last year.
