No surprise to any recruit that Dutcher would be the coach when Fisher retired . Dutcher had commented a while back that things would be similar when he does become coach . He also learned to appreciate the guy playing the 5 while watching his dad coach in the BIG .
Yes we are the "local" school for McCoy but can we stop the stay home for the local G5 fans . His t shirt says McCoy similar to most top 10 recruits could strongly be looking for the school that gets him as quickly as possible into the NBA first round . Can Dutcher sell him that he would be willing to run his offense through the front court . Front line of Brandon , Malik , Zylan would be very strong , similar to K . Leonard , Billy W , and Malcolm T ? Plus new guard play ? Sell the chance of a strong MM run ,rather the local guy makes good .

Tyler Dorsey (Oregon) has decided to play professionally and will sign with an agent. They have 3 scholarships available and still don't know if Dillon Brooks or Jordan Bell will decide to stay or leave. Word is that Jordan Bell has been a huge help in recruiting McCoy to Oregon and Jaren Jackson has done the same for MSU.

Both Dylan Ennis and Dillon Brooks have decided to play professionally and will hire agents. They now have 3 scholarships - impending Oregon commit from McCoy today?

bxbfiwyabdkab he said he switched today... but I am not fatalistic so I will not say that it would be the ultimate kick in the nuts if it comes out we were #2 and he wanted to play for fisher. I won't even think it, nope. |

Can we stop pretending that Coach Fisher stepping down is the reason he may select a different school . Some reports have the Ducks in the lead , with UNLV or MSU next but all that really matters is if he signs at SDSU or not . He is looking to play on a team that puts him in position for the NBA . Believe Dutcher is more likely to involve the guy playing the 5 then Fisher did.

He wanted to be surrounded by great players, do we have any? Don't think so..we have average players that think they are great
When asked about being close to home, that was not important to him

Why can't these local 5 stars see that if Gonzaga can excel in a podunk conference, we can too. The Collins kid did just fine with the zags, didn't hurt his NBA chances, just don't get it. It's time for SD to experience a BIG winner. Maybe there is something with the team chemistry that us koolaid drinkers don't see? |

Believe the Jordan Classic is on TV today . Does McCoy commit some time this week or hold off to see who else is leaving their school for NBA ? Agree he wants a team that has a very solid chance of being in E 8 or better . Local bit just does not sell to top 25 rated recruits.
Go back and read the articles about Collins( from the Vegas area -he did not stay local ) . Decision came down to SDSU and Zags . He commented that he liked the way the Zags use their 5's in their offense and get guys that play the 5 into the NBA . Zags also know the importance of quality OOC ,plus performance ,they do their best in being a top 25 team by the end of OOC . Should be a major goal here also. They do not depend on other members of WCC . but Did help that SMC was also a MM team .

Of the schools Brandon is considering . Who has any one that maybe heading to the NBA ,that has not hired an agent and so may come back ? Or may get a very high quality transfer ? Or may still sign another highly rated HS player ? Ducks ? and ? Not SDSU or UNLV .
interesting that he thought Fisher was going to retire ? Also that he knows the style of offense we play ( would not say that bodes well for us - unless Dutcher has had a discussion that things could be adjusted to the offense if he was here - and we have the opening at the 5 - if he wants to play there ?).
Does help that he has played and talked with our guys ( Zylan ? ) Usually guys try to talk to current players to get a real feel for what it is really like once you are on a team rather then just being recruited .
translation - not sure he really knows what he wants to do - or he could make a decision any day ?

"I wanna be surrounded by great players as well as [great] people." I added the second great in there because he didn't say it, but I think it's implied (since I don't think he meant "I want to be surrounded by ... people"). Kind of like when you're honoring someone: "Steve Fisher is not only a great coach, but a great person." The great player/coach part is given, but the great person part is the emphasis of the statement. At least, that's how I interpreted the video. But I'm no psychiatrist or nothing so your interpretation is just as valid as mine. |
